(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 9, 2023 – Three weeks after notching his first top-five A-main showing of the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season at Beaver Dam Raceway, Travis Arenz upped the ante by doubling up on his career-best finish behind the wheel of a 410 Sprint Car, steering his Travis Arenz Motorsports 25T machine to a second place showing in a non-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 6.
Arenz opened the program by qualifying third in the 24-car field with a lap of 12.939 seconds on the third-mile clay oval, during a group qualifying session.
The 16th year driver started fourth in the second eight-lap 410 Sprint Car heat race and quickly moved to the front, advancing three spots to earn his first heat race victory of the 2023 season.
After starting sixth in the 25-lap main event, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion drove a smart race, avoiding a few incidents along the way to finish in the runner-up spot behind race winner Bill Balog.
The second place showing equaled Arenz’s previous career-best 410 Sprint Car finish, which also came at Wilmot Raceway in a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event on Aug. 27, 2022.
“We have struggled with qualifying this year so far, so qualifying third was definitely a good change in direction,” Arenz said. “In the heat race, the car was good. It just took a few laps to get rolling.
“Unfortunately, the car was a little too tight in the early stages of the feature,” he said. “Near the end of the race is when I felt comfortable and was able to turn decent laps and progress forward. More seat time behind the wheel of the 410 car is definitely what I need to keep getting faster.”
Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team will compete in a Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions – Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series co-sanctioned event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 13.
Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 4 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6 p.m.
All 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.
