(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 13, 2026 – Travis Arenz ramped up the 2026 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season on a positive note, tallying a pair of top-10 finishes in Iowa and Illinois on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9.
The Travis Arenz Motorsports team made its first trip to Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa, for the 2026 IRA season opener on Friday, May 8.
The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor turned in the 14th fastest qualifying time in the 35-car field with a lap of 12.901 on the quarter-mile, slightly-banked dirt oval.
Arenz then rolled to his first heat race victory of the 2026 campaign after starting on the pole in the second 8-lap IRA heat race to earn a spot in IRA dash 2. After starting second, the two-time Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion came home third in the second IRA four-lap dash to nail down an outside third row starting position in the 25-lap main event.
Searching for the fastest line on the rubber-heavy racing surface, Arenz kept pace near the front of the field throughout the main event. He ran steadily between the eighth and 10th spots as drivers hunted the best way around the tricky track.
A final-lap move pushed Arenz to a ninth-place showing to wrap up the 2026 IRA season opener.
One night later, Arenz travelled east to Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Ill., on Saturday, May 9, where he qualified seventh in the 22-car field with a lap of 14.122 seconds on the three-eighths-mile semi-banked clay oval.
In the first heat race, Arenz placed fourth to advance to the second dash, where he finished fifth to earn the 10th starting spot in the 30-lap main event. After firing from the outside of the fifth row, Arenz advanced steadily up through the field as the track filled with rubber. On lap 25, Arenz swept into sixth place, and he held onto the spot for the rest of the way.
“We definitely chased set-ups that are a little different than in the past, but we are always pushing to be better,” Arenz said. “I’m happy we made the dash both nights, but I needed that extra push for better feature results.”
Arenz is eyeing a return to The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., this Saturday, May 16, with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series.
Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
On Sunday, May 17, the team will visit Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., with spectator gates opening at 4 p.m., hot laps at 5 p.m., and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.
“Plymouth and Angell Park are tracks we have been to very frequently, so I usually have a good idea of how the track is going to change throughout the night,” Arenz said. “I’m looking forward to racing at both places again.”
All IRA events are streamed live on floracing.com.
