(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 3, 2025 – An overall lack of good luck, which has hounded Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing Team throughout the 2025 season, was again on display in a pair of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events at The Plymouth Dirt Track and Beaver Dam Raceway last weekend.

The Labor Day weekend of IRA action opened during the Sheboygan County Fair at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Friday, Aug. 29, with Hartmann logging in the 12th fastest qualifying time in the 28-car field. The fifth-year Sprint Car competitor went on to place third in the third heat race to earn the 12th starting spot in the 30-lap main event.

Hartmann was running 11th on lap 9 when another competitor moved up the track and forced the Plymouth, Wis. driver into the outside wall between turns three and four, producing a bent right rear wheel.

After heading to the work area, Hartmann reported an engine issue, which ended the team’s night with a 23rd place showing. Later, Hartmann and the team discovered a lost cylinder number 8 spark plug in the engine compartment.

One night later, the team headed to Beaver Dam Raceway for the Harry Neitzel Tribute-Jim Wipperfurth Memorial event on what was described as the final Sprint Car race to ever be held at the facility, which is for sale.

The night got off to a strong start for Hartmann as he qualified sixth out of the 34 cars signed in before placing fourth in the second heat race to qualify for his fourth dash of the 2025 IRA season.

A fifth place showing in the second four-lap dash put Hartmann in the 10th starting spot for the 30-lap A main.

Again, poor luck struck in a big way on lap 4 when, while racing for sixth, another driver steered left into Hartmann along the front straightaway. The contact sent Hartmann on a series of flips. While he was able to emerge from the hard wreck uninjured, the heavy impact destroyed his 87A machine. Hartmann ended up 22nd in the final race results.

The incident caused the team to miss the final event of the three-race IRA weekend on Sunday, Aug. 31, at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis.

“It was another bad couple of nights running with the IRA and having drivers make contact with our car,” Hartmann said. “We will get everything put together and be at Cedar Lake this weekend.”

The team is scheduled to compete in the 25th annual two-night Jerry Richert Memorial event at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., this Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6. Limited Sprints and UMSS Traditional Sprints are scheduled to round out the card on both nights, with racing slated to start at 6 p.m.

All IRA events the 87A Hartmann Racing Team enters during the 2025 season will be streamed live on floracing.com.

Pokorski dealt mixed bag in IRA tripleheader

Alex Pokorski equaled his career-best Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series finish with a 13th place showing at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Friday, Aug. 29. -RC Custom Design photo

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 2, 2025 – A three-race Labor Day holiday weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series competition produced varying results for the Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team at The Plymouth Dirt Track, Beaver Dam Raceway and The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay.

The tripleheader got underway at The Plymouth Dirt Track during the Sheboygan County Fair on Friday, Aug. 29.

After qualifying 18th in the 28-car field, the fifth-year Sprint Car racer moved up a position in the third heat race to place fifth and secure a spot in the 30-lap main event. Pokorski drove a smooth and consistent race to equal his career-best IRA A-main finish with a 13th place showing in the 30-lap headliner. On Saturday, Aug. 30, the team headed to Beaver Dam Raceway for the Harry Neitzel Tribute-Jim Wipperfurth Memorial Race, which was billed as the final Sprint Car race to be held at the facility, which is currently up for sale.

The West Bend, Wis. native, opened the evening by qualifying 30th out of the 34 cars on hand. His qualifying effort dropped him back to an eighth place starting position in the second heat race. Pokorski advanced one position to place seventh.

In the 12-lap B Main, Pokorski needed to get from his ninth starting spot to sixth to transfer to the A main. He was able to advance two places. However, he fell three positions short of making it into the 30-lap main event.

The team’s debut appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., on Sunday, Aug. 31, was a brief one. Pokorski qualified 16th in the 22-car field. However, the motor in the No. 4 car expired in the first heat race, bringing the night to an early end.

Despite losing a motor, the team is set to compete with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association this Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6 for the Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.

“We are renting a motor from Russ Wetenkamp and the GR8 team to race at Cedar Lake,” Pokorski said. “We are very thankful to Russ and the GR8 guys for lending us a hand to get to the next race.”

Schmidt scores third straight MSA win in Neitzel-Wipperfurth race

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Two-time and defending MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association champion picked up his 51st career series victory at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 30. – JW’s Car and Raccing photo

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 30, 2025 – As the 2025 season moves into the final month, two-time and defending series champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth remained red hot by racking up his third consecutive MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association main event triumph in the Harry Neitzel Tribute-Jim Wipperfurth Memorial race at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 30.

After starting the 25-lap MSA A main on the outside of the front row, Schmidt bolted into the lead on the drop of the green flag, followed by polesitter Jason Johnson of Campbellsport. On lap 4, the first of five green flag stoppages occurred when J.J. Pagel lost a right front tire.

When the race resumed, 2005 MSA champion Lance Fassbender of Burnett, who started fourth, slipped past Johnson into second on lap 6. On lap 10, the leaders were starting to slice through the back of the field when the second caution flag flew for the stalled car of Billy Kreutz.

The action kicked up several notches on the restart as Fassbender and Schmidt exchanged sliders during the next two laps before Fassbender surged into the lead on lap 12.

The third caution flag was displayed on lap 15 after Steven Ruh spun in turn four. On the restart, Brandon Berth of Cascade charged up from the 10th starting spot to battle Schmidt for second.

Meanwhile, Fassbender held down a solid half straightaway cushion before his strong run was cut short with a spin in turn three on lap 19. With Schmidt back out front, Scotty Neitzel, who started eighth, threw his hat into the ring as a contender by advancing to third following the restart.

A red flag then came out for a flip involving Joseph Hintz of Burnett on lap 21. With less than five laps to go in the race, the final restart was held in single-file formation with Schmidt surging ahead in the closing laps on the way to his first Harry Neitzel Tribute race victory, fifth 2025 MSA A-main win, third consecutive series triumph and 51st career MSA A-main victory.

Neitzel came home second, Berth placed third, rookie Eric Wilke of Genesse moved up from the seventh starting position to earn an MSA career best fourth place showing and Greenville’s T.J. Smith moved up from the 19th starting position to round out the top five.

In victory lane, Schmidt shared his thoughts on winning the Neitzel-Wipperfurth race for what could be the final 360 Sprint Car race at the facility, which is presently up for sale.

“It means a lot to win this one,” Schmidt said. “I wanted it bad. I knew Scotty [Neitzel] and Brandon Berth were coming, but we got it done. Winning here is awesome. We’ve had our highs and lows at this track. I’ve wrecked bad and I’ve won here. Standing here tonight brings out some emotions for sure.”

With his first victory in the Harry Neitzel Tribute race, Schmidt joins the list of race winners in the event’s eight-year history, including Brandon Berth (2021, 2023) five-time MSA champion Kurt Davis (2017), Kevin Karnitz of West Bend (2018), Jim Melis of Glenbeulah (2019), six-time MSA champion Brandon McMullen of Oshkosh (2020) and two-time MSA champion Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls (2022).

Billy Kreutz’s top qualifying time of 12.755 seconds set a new 360 Sprint Car track record on the third-mile high-banked clay oval.

Kreutz won the 12-lap B main, and heat race wins went to J.J. Pagel, Scotty Neitzel, Tony Wondra and Eric Wilke.

The namesakes of the evening, Wipperfurth and Neitzel, were major supporters of Sprint Car racing in the Beaver Dam area. After Beaver Dam Raceway reopened in 1993, the 360 Sprint Car division began operating at the facility in 1996. Three years later, the MSA was founded in 1999 with Beaver Dam Raceway serving as the focal point of the series.

The 18th event of the 2025 campaign drew a season-high 28 MSA 360 Sprint Cars.

The next event for the MMW Industrial Supply MSA Sprint Car Series is set to take place at Outagamie Speedway in Seymour on Saturday, Sept. 6. Spectator gates open at 3:30 p.m. with racing scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m.

Late pass propels Schmidt to 50th 360 Sprint Car win

Julien claims second straight IRA event

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Ben Schmidt of Plymouth earned his 28th career Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, August 29.  – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 29, 2025 – With the bright lights of the Sheboygan County Fair midway framing a vibrant background, two-time and defending Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth flashed to his 50th career 360 Sprint Car victory Friday, Aug. 29 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.

In the 30-lap Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series main event, 16-year-old rising star Logan Julien of Oconomowoc executed the winning pass in the closing laps on the way to his second straight A-main victory.

Polesitter Lance Fassbender of Burnett, who claimed the 2008 PDTR 360 Sprint Car title, led the opening two circuits of the 25-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event.

On lap 3, outside front row starter Brandon Berth of Cascade used a slide job to vault past Fassbender into the lead. Berth pulled away to a solid advantage before catching the rear of the field on lap 8. However, the slower cars didn’t faze Berth as he maintained a full-straightaway cushion over Fassbender on lap 11.

Seven laps later, the first caution flag of the race was displayed for the spinning car of Ryan Sawusch. When the race resumed, sixth starter Kevin Karnitz of West Bend moved into second with Ben Schmidt, who started eighth, following in third.

A red flag appeared on lap 19 for a flip involving Joseph Hintz of Burnett. Following the restart, Karnitz dove low to pressure the cushion-riding Berth for the lead. Another caution for a Sawusch spin bunched the field on lap 21.

When the green light turned on, Schmidt turned it on as he camped his No. 1 machine on the low line to power past Karnitz into second. On the 23rd circuit, Schmidt ripped off the winning move, sliding past Berth in turn four to seize the lead.

The 25th-year racer went on to nail down his fourth Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car victory of the 2025 season, 28th career PDTR A-main win and 50th career MSA triumph.

Berth, who had outdueled Schmidt for the win one week prior, had to settle for second. Karnitz placed third, Chris Clayton of Waldo, the fourth starter, wound up fourth, and Fassbender rounded out the top five.

“I’ve been racing at this track since 2000,” Schmidt said. “I’ve had some huge support over the years. I need to thank everyone for that. This win feels awesome. Last week, he [Brandon Berth] got me for the win by running the bottom in the closing laps. Tonight, everyone was running the top, so I went where they weren’t, and the bottom worked for us to get the win.”

Logan Julien of Oconomowoc collected his second career Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car main event win at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, August 29.  – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

Outside front row starter Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill., led the first two laps of the IRA 410 Sprint Car main event before polesitter Max Guilford of Auckland, New Zealand, grabbed the top spot on lap 3.

Guilford wasted no time bolting out to a huge full straightaway cushion, while two-time PDTR and MSA 360 Sprint Car champion Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls, who started third, bolted into second on lap 6.

Guilford caught the rear of the field just as the first of two yellow flags appeared on lap 9 for the spinning car of Tyler Brabant. Following the restart, Austin Hartmann slowed to a stop in turn four to bring out the second caution flag of the race.

The final restart saw fourth starter Logan Julien flex his muscle by slipping past Arenz into third along the rubber down inside lane in turns three and four. While Guilford ran the cushion just off the wall, Logan clung to the low line to drive into the lead on lap 27.

Julien, who captured the 2023 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award, held off Guilford’s late bid to retake the lead along the high line to notch his second career and second straight IRA 410 Sprint Car A-main win.

“I saw some lapped cars running really fast down low in turns three and four,” Julien said. “When I saw that, I knew there was rubber on the bottom. I was able to roll the top in one and two, and then the bottom in three and four to track down Max [Guilford]. It’s crazy to get back-to-back wins like this. To get my first 410 win last week [at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill.] was amazing, and now to get another one this week is unbelievable.”

Arenz was second, Guilford took third, Neuman wound up fourth, and seventh starter Blake Nimee of Yorkville, Ill., placed fifth.

Thomas Schinderle of Berkley, Mich., won the 12-lap IRA B main.

Billy Kreutz of Kiel earned PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car fast qualifier accolades with a fast lap of 12.196 seconds.

Logan Julien took IRA 410 Sprint Car fast qualifier accolades for a lap of 11.335 seconds.

The event attracted a field of 52 entries, including 28 IRA 410 Sprint Cars and 24 PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Cars.

The next event at The Plymouth Dirt Track is the eighth annual Jim “Wildman” Watson Classic on Saturday, Sept. 20, featuring the final race of the 2025 WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour season. The Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars, A Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Bandits are also on the card.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m. with hot laps/qualifying at 5 p.m. and racing at 5:45 p.m.

Arenz takes first run at LaSalle, ramps up for three-race IRA weekend

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 27, 2025 – After competing in just three Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series races over the span of the past seven weeks, Travis Arenz and his crew got back on track with their first appearance at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Arenz opened the night by qualifying 18th overall in the 36-car field with a lap of 11.660 seconds.

After placing sixth in the second IRA heat race, the 2020 and 2021 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion rolled off third and advanced one spot to place second in the 12-lap B main and move on to the evening’s main event.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver started 21st in the 30-lap main event and worked his way up to as high as 12th before tallying a 20th place showing.

“LaSalle is a cool facility,” Arenz said. “I have never raced there before, so I’m glad we got to experience it, but the night’s results were less than favorable. I made contact with the wall after losing tack coming out of the turn during the closing laps of the feature, which resulted in making contact with another driver. It was a driving error on my part. I always want to race clean and respectfully. With the wreck this past weekend, there is a lot of work to prepare for this weekend. We will get everything back together and be ready. I hope to turn good clean laps all weekend. I’m also hoping to get a little redemption at Beaver Dam while we still can!”

The Travis Arenz Motorsports Team is set to enter a big tripleheader weekend of IRA action starting at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the annual Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday, Aug. 29.

On-track action is set to commence at 5 p.m.

One night later, Arenz joins the IRA for the Harry Neitzel Tribute and Jim Wipperfurth Memorial, billed as the last-ever Sprint Car race at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Spectator gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m.

The weekend closes with an appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series.

Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

All 2025 IRA events are streamed live on floracing.com.

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 27, 2025 – After 23 days out of the driver’s seat, Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing Team got back at it last week with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws and Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, Hartmann and crew traveled to far western Wisconsin to take on the World of Outlaws 410 Sprint Car Series at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis.

The fifth-year Sprint Car competitor qualified 23rd in the 27-car field with a lap of 12.045 around the lightning-fast, third-mile high-banked clay oval.

After placing seventh in the second heat race, the Plymouth, Wis. driver advanced to the 30-lap A-main with a second place showing in the Last Chance Showdown.

Hartmann held strong in the main event to post a 21st place showing.

The team made its first-ever visit to the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association on Saturday, Aug. 23.

The 2020 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award recipient qualified 19th overall in the 36-car field with a lap of 11.679 seconds on the quarter-mile high-banked dirt oval.

He then placed sixth in the first IRA heat race before starting fifth in the B Main. Hartmann was running seventh, needing to place in the top four to advance to the main event, when an incident on lap 8 ended his evening early. He was credited with a 10th place showing.

“It was another IRA show where the results weren’t what we wanted,” Hartmann said. “I didn’t have a very good night behind the wheel. We’re looking forward to getting things straight for the three-race weekend coming up.”

87A Hartmann Racing Team is preparing for a big tripleheader weekend of IRA action starting at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the annual Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday, Aug. 29.

The following night, Hartmann joins the IRA for the Harry Neitzel Tribute and Jim Wipperfurth Memorial in what is being billed as the final Sprint Car race at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Spectator gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m.

The weekend closes with a return visit to The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series.

After eventful double dip, Pokorski eyes IRA tripleheader

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 26, 2025 – Following a month away from competition, a weekend of 360 and 410 Sprint Car action offered a little bit of everything for Alex Pokorski and members of the Akright Auto Racing Team.

Alex Pokorski is set to enter a Bumper to Bumper 410 Sprint Car Series tripleheader weekend at The Plymouth Dirt Track, Beaver Dam Raceway and The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay Aug. 29-31. -JW’s Car and Raccing PhotosAkright Auto Racing Team.

The team opened the doubleheader weekend with a night of Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car action at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Friday, Aug 22.

Alex began the program by registering the seventh fastest qualifying time in the 26-car field with a lap of 12.746 around the semi-banked third-mile clay oval.

After starting third and placing second in the second heat race, the fifth-year Sprint Car racer rolled off from the fourth starting slot in the 25-lap headliner. The West Bend native used a strong start to vault into second on lap 4.

While dueling with Scotty Thiel for the runner-up spot on lap 9, Pokorski brushed the front stretch wall, which resulted in a flat right rear tire. After retreating to the work area for a tire change, he rejoined the field, charging from 21st to secure a 12th place finish.

One night later, on Saturday, Aug. 23, Pokorski and crew made their debut appearance at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., for a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event.

After qualifying 31st in the 36-car field with a lap of 12.227 seconds around the quarter-mile high-banked dirt oval, Pokorski placed seventh in the fourth heat race.

Alex lined up sixth in the 12-lap B Main and was battling for the final A-main transfer spot when he clipped the front stretch wall on lap 7. The impact produced enough damage to bring the evening to a close for the No. 4 car. He was credited with a ninth place showing in the B main.

“We had good speed in the 360 again,” Pokorski said. “We were just unlucky to crash early in the A main. On the 410 side of things, we are still learning. I ended up driving it too hard and made some more work for us this week. We have a good start on it. I’m hoping to finish up the season strong, beginning with making the three shows this weekend.”

The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is preparing for a big tripleheader weekend of IRA action starting at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the annual Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday, Aug. 29.

On-track action is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

One night later, Pokorski joins the IRA for the Harry Neitzel Tribute and Jim Wipperfurth Memorial in what is being billed as the final Sprint Car race ever to be held at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Spectator gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m., with racing starting at 6 p.m.

The weekend closes with the team’s first-ever appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series.

Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Schmidt masters Wilmot, scores third 2025 MSA win

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 23, 2025 – Two-time and defending MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth raced with a clear mission in mind during the MSA’s first trip of the 2025 season to Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 23.

Entering the 17th program of the 2025 MSA campaign, second in the series point standings with half a dozen races remaining on the schedule, Schmidt kept a laser focus on his championship aspirations by notching his third A-main victory of the season in impressive fashion.

MSA point leader Kevin Karnitz of West Bend jumped into the lead of the 25-lap main event from the pole with outside front row starter Katelyn Krebsbach of Johnsburg in tow.

On lap 3, the fourth starting Schmidt, now in his 26th season of competition, moved past Krebsbach to assume second. Five laps later, the lone stoppage of the race occurred when Tyler Davis of Franklin went on a series of flips in turn one to draw a red flag.

The restart saw Schmidt pull off what proved to be the winning move as he slid past the high-riding Karnitz to take over the top spot. From there, Schmidt had smooth sailing as he built up a full straightaway lead while weaving his way through slower traffic in the closing stages of the race.

Schmidt went on to post his third win of the 2025 MSA season and his 49th career series triumph.

Karnitz placed second, Krebsbach equaled her career-best A-main finish with a third place showing, Brandon Berth of Cascade charged up 10 spots to place fourth after starting 14th and Anthony Knierim of Franksville completed the top five.

“I always like coming down here to race,” Schmidt said in victory lane. “I think I’m getting the hang of this place. I had a couple of runner-ups until winning one a couple years ago. Coming back to do it again is great for the whole team that stands behind me. I got the lead and then lost it at Plymouth last night. I wasn’t going to let that happen again tonight.”

Karnitz set fast qualifier honors with a lap of 13.540 seconds around the venerable three-eighths-mile semi-banked clay oval.

Heat race victories went to Chris Larson of Franksville, Katelyn Krebsbach and Ben Schmidt.

The event drew 17 MSA 360 Sprint Cars.

The next event for the MMW Industrial Supply MSA Sprint Car Series is at The Plymouth Dirt Track during the Sheboygan County Fair in Plymouth, Wis., on Friday, Aug. 29.

One night later, the MSA competitors will cap off a doubleheader weekend with an appearance at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Sorce, Warner claim repeat PDTR track titles – Mullen bags Dolhun Sr. Classic cash

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Berth, Ruh notch A-main wins

Mike Mullen of Seymour earned his second Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Late Model A-main victory in the 40-lap Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Ted Dolhun Sr. Classic at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, Aug. 22.  – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 22, 2025 – Multi-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing track champions Will Sorce of Franksville (Grand Nationals) and Tim Warner of Malone (B Mods) added to their PDTR championship collections to close out the 2025 campaign on Friday, Aug. 22, at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.

A late-race pass propelled Mike Mullen of Seymour to a $3,500 victory in the 40-lap WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour Ted Dolhun Sr. Classic.

Brandon Berth of Cascade outdueled two-time and defending track champion Ben Schmidt of Plymouth in the closing laps to notch the win in the 25-lap Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car main event.

Mavrick Ruh of Elkhart Lake earned his first career 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National A-main victory, as Will Sorce secured his third consecutive division title.

Tim Warner put a seal on his fourth PDTR Sheboygan Flooring B Mod title by earning the victory in the 25-lap main event.

After polesitter Nick Anvelink of Bonduel nipped outside front row starter Taylor Scheffler of Waukesha to lead the opening circuit, calamity ensued on lap two when Scheffler got out of shape exiting turn four and collected six-time PDTR Late Model champion Brad Mueller of Random Lake and Troy Springborn of Shawano. Mueller and Springborn suffered too much damage to continue.

When the race resumed, seventh starter Brett Swedberg of Shawano ducked low to take second away from 2014 PDTR Late Model champion Mitch McGrath of Waukesha, who started third, on lap 3.

Swedberg flexed his muscle by pulling up next to Anvelink to challenge for the lead on lap 4. Anvelink maintained the top spot and built up a solid cushion over McGrath by lap 8.

On lap 17, Anvelink caught the rear of the field just before Justin Ritchie of New London stopped in turn four to bring out the second caution flag of the event.

Swedberg bested McGrath on the restart to seize second before the third caution appeared for the spinning car of Shawn Miller of Gillett on lap 21. Following the final restart, 10th starter Mike Mullen became a factor as he edged past Swedberg to take over second in the running order.

Mullen moved in to pressure Anvelink for the top spot starting on lap 23, staying within striking distance over the next 15 laps. The veteran driver pounced with a race-winning low move when Anvelink slipped high in turn four on lap 38.

Anvelink, who owns seven career Dirt Kings Tour season championships, battled back on the final lap. Still, Mullen held on by a car length to secure his second career Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz PDTR Late Model A-main victory and ninth career Dirt Kings main event triumph.

Anvelink had to settle for second, Swedberg was third, Joel Bennett of Hortonville charged up from the 12th starting spot to take fourth and Taylor Scheffler battled back from the rear of the field following his lap 2 incident to place fifth.

The 360 Sprint Car A-main got off to a rocky start when the machine of Trevor’s Ellie Hensley rolled in turn one to bring out a red flag. When the race got under, second starter Brandon Berth bolted into the lead before West Bend’s Alex Pokorski stormed into second from the fourth starting position on lap 4.

Five laps later, Pokorski hit the front stretch wall after dueling with Sheboygan’s Scotty Thiel, who started third. The incident brought out a caution flag and prompted Pokorski to head to the work area to replace a flat right rear tire.

On the restart, fifth starter Ben Schmidt flew around Thiel to nail down second and quickly set his sights on the lead. Schmidt tracked down Berth and used a low move to take over the top spot on lap 10.

Five laps later, Thiel stole second from Berth and began to reel in Schmidt. Another caution flag came out on lap 17 for the slowing car of Shane Wenninger of Kewaskum.

Following the restart, Berth shot past Thiel and rapidly cut the gap to Schmidt. Shortly after the restart, Berth made the decisive move, rebounding to retake the lead on lap 18.

He then pulled away to record his second career PDTR 360 Sprint Car triumph and eighth career Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win.

Schmidt took second, Thiel was third, current point leader Kevin Karnitz of West Bend advanced from the eighth starting spot to finish fourth and seventh starter Tony Wondra of Campbellsport finished fifth.

Polesitter Mavrick Ruh bolted into the lead on the opening lap of the Grand National main event and wasted no

time in opening up a large lead over third starter Jason Juech of Plymouth.

By lap 8, Ruh had built up a full straightaway cushion over Juech. Ruh ran away over the final 17 laps to capture his first career PDTR Grand National A-main victory in the caution-free race.

Juech was second, 2022 PDTR Grand National champ Luke Scholten of Oostburg took third after starting fifth, 2019 champion Tyler Kulow of Plymouth placed from the 10th starting position, and Will Sorce moved up from the eighth starting slot to capture his third career PDTR Grand National season title with a fifth place showing.

Outside front row starter Brendan Ostrowski of Milwaukee assumed the lead on lap 1 of the B Mod main event. On lap 5, the first of three caution flags was displayed for the spinning car of Parker Glander of Sheboygan Falls.

When the race resumed, Carsin Cullen of Chilton charged in to challenge Ostrowski for the lead beginning on lap 8. The leaders encountered slower traffic on lap 15 before the second caution came out for the stalled car of Sheboygan’s Steve Lorier on lap 18.

As the laps wound down, Ostrowski spun into the infield in turn two after racing with Cullen in close quarters on lap 21, which allowed 11th starter Tim Warner to take advantage by bolting into the top spot one lap later. The third and final caution flag was presented on lap 23 for a two-car incident in turn four.

Warner held on over the final two circuits to bag his fourth career PDTR B Mod track championship and division-leading 14th career A-main win.

Cullen placed third, 10th starter Matt Urban of Milwaukee placed third, Spencer Long of Sheboygan Falls charged up from the 14th starting spot to finish fourth and Brandon Knepprath of Kewaskum took fifth from the eighth starting position.

Derek Kaat of Plymouth won the 12-lap Grand National B Main.

Mitch McGrath set a new Late Model track record in securing the evening’s top qualifier honors with a lap of 12.828 seconds.

Billy Kreutz of Kiel earned 360 Sprint Car fast qualifier accolades with a fast lap of 12.241 seconds.

The event attracted a field of 93 entries, including 21 Dirt Kings Late Models, 26 360 Sprint Cars, 24 Grand Nationals and 22 B Mods.

The next event at The Plymouth Dirt Track features the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing 410 Sprint Car Series joining the PDTR 360 Sprint Cars during the Sheboygan County Fair on Friday, Aug. 29.

Goeden makes grand return to PDTR victory lane

Weiss, Lorier, Strane Jr. tally A-main triumphs

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Donny Goeden of Kewaskum earned his 22nd career Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 2. – Plymouth Dirt Track Racing photo

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 2, 2025 – As one of the most successful drivers in the history of The Plymouth Dirt Track, Kewaskum’s Donny Goeden has written the book on winning races at the third-mile clay oval throughout his standout 40-year Wall of Fame career.

Goeden, who ended a six-year retirement from racing at Plymouth in 2022, added a new winning chapter by earning his first 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main victory in nearly nine years on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Brad Weiss of Cascade claimed his first 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National A-main win of the 2025 campaign.

Sheboygan’s Steve Lorier raced to victory in the 25-lap Sheboygan Flooring B Mod main event.

Brian Strane Jr. of Paris emerged victorious in the 20-lap IRA Lightning Sprints A main presented by guest division sponsor Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz.

Contact between polesitter T.J. Smith of Greenville and outside front row starter Billy Kreutz of Kiel on the initial start of the 360 Sprint Car A main led to a multi-car incident on the back stretch, which collected Justin Erickson of Plymouth, Burnett’s Joseph Hintz, Hayden Johnson of Campbellsport and Kewaskum’s Bill Taylor.

Following a lengthy red flag period, Kreutz, who maintained control of his car during the melee, retained his starting spot at the front of the field. Erickson, Johnson and Taylor restarted the race at the tail of the field, while Smith and Hintz were forced to retire from the event.

When the green flag flew, Kreutz bolted into the lead from the pole with original third starter Goeden, who restarted second, following close behind.

On lap 2, Goeden powered into the lead along the high groove in turn two and quickly pulled out to a half-straightaway advantage over Kreutz. Two-time PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee brought out a caution flag after contacting the back stretch wall on lap 8.

Following the restart, original fifth starter Kevin Karnitz of West Bend used a high move to launch past Kreutz and gain the runner-up spot. Three laps later, two-time and defending PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Ben Schmidt of Plymouth advanced up from his original 11th starting position to secure third.

As the laps wound down, Goeden found himself mired in dense lapped traffic, which allowed Karnitz to pull within striking distance with five laps to go. On lap 23, Karnitz ducked low in turn four in a bid to wrestle away the lead from Goeden.

However, the two-time Plymouth Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Winged Super Modified champion turned back Karnitz’s advances on the way to his first PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory since Sept. 2, 2016, 22nd career PDTR 360 Sprint Car triumph and 23rd overall Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win. It was also Goeden’s 41st career A-main victory at Plymouth in 360 Sprint Car and Winged Super Modified competition.

With the win, Goeden became the 10th different driver to claim an A-main victory in 2025 PDTR 360 Sprint Car action.

Karnitz had to settle for second, Schmidt wound up third, Chris Clayton of Waldo placed fourth after originally starting ninth and Kreutz rounded out the top five.

Outside front row starter Brad Weiss jumped into the lead at the start of the Grand National A main before a caution flag flew for a two-car incident in turn two.

When the race resumed, fifth starter Will Schumacher of Hartford bolted into second with three-time PDTR Grand National champ Don Sorce Jr. of West Allis advancing to third from the seventh starting spot.

On lap 5, Sorce Jr. assumed second as Weiss built up a half-straightaway cushion. Lapped traffic proved to be a challenge for Weiss starting on lap 14 as Sorce Jr. quickly cut into the lead gap.

Sorce Jr. drew side-by-side with Weiss, who got caught behind a lapped car on lap 17. The two drivers dueled in close quarters on lap 18 before Weiss executed what proved to be the winning move by boldly splitting two slower cars entering turn three on lap 19 to establish an insurmountable gap over Sorce Jr.

Weiss pulled away to earn his second career PDTR Grand National A-main win.

Sorce Jr. placed second, Will Schumacher was third, ninth starter Derek Kaat of Plymouth placed fourth and 2019 PDTR Grand National champion Tyler Kulow of Plymouth wound up fifth after starting sixth.

Scott Quarnstrom of Lake Villa, Ill. led the opening lap of the B Mod main event from the pole with fifth starter Tim Thrun of Horicon in tow. On lap 6, Steve Lorier, who started sixth, moved past Quarnstrom to seize the top spot.

Lorier led third starter Vince Jung of Iron Ridge and ninth starter Cole Thomas of Germantown past the halfway point before four consecutive caution flags for spins bunched the field down the stretch.

The cautions didn’t faze Lorier as he held on to earn his sixth career PDTR B Mod A-main triumph.

Jung placed second, Thomas was third, seventh starter Brandon Knepprath of Kewaskum placed fourth and Rory Welch of Plymouth moved up from the 11th starting position to round out the top five.

After polesitter Ron Brannam of Barrington, Ill. grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the IRA Lightning Sprints main event, the race was stopped twice when flips involving Tim Brannam and Max Brannam of Holiday Hills, Ill. brought out two successive red flags.

When the race resumed, Chad Stouthamer of Big Bend swept into the lead from the fourth starting spot with Brian Strane Jr., who started 11th, trailing close behind.

On lap 8, Strane Jr. made what proved to be the winning move in turn two on the way to his fifth IRA Lightning Sprint A-main victory of the 2025 campaign.

Stouthamer was second, third starter Mike Neau of Pleasant Prairie placed third, Tucker Richards of Bristol claimed fourth after starting eighth and sixth starter Nick Petska of Spring Grove, Ill. finished fifth.

Donny Goeden secured 360 Sprint Car fast qualifier honors with a lap of 12.490 seconds.

Nick Petska turned in a lap of 13.504 to earn the fast qualifier award in the IRA Lightning Sprints division.

The event attracted a total of 73 cars, including 23 360 Sprint Cars, 22 Grand Nationals, 16 B Mods and 12 Lightning Sprints.

The evening, which featured a Kids Coin and Candy Drop courtesy of VanDerVaart Concrete Products, Kids Coloring Contest and Kids Glow Stick Giveaway sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America, was sponsored by Pit Stop Pizza.

PDTR action resumes on Saturday, Aug. 9, featuring the final race of the 2025 Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model Series season presented by guest division sponsor Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz.

Taylor Scheffler of Waukesha heads into the program with a six-point lead over six-time PDTR Late Model champion Brad Mueller of Random Lake in the chase for the 2025 track title.

The program also marks the final Dirt Devil Grand National Series event of the 2025 Plymouth Dirt Track season, presented by PDTR division sponsor Oostburg Automotive.

The PDTR Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car and Sheboygan Flooring B Mods will also be in action.

Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying slated for 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Hartmann tallies 2025 IRA best at Beaver Dam Raceway

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 30, 2025 – In a season that has put Austin Hartmann and the members of the 87A Hartmann Racing Team to the test many times over, a solid weekend overall effort highlighted with a season-best showing was just what the doctor ordered in a back to back to back

Austin Hartmann racked up a 2025 season-best seventh-place finish in a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association event at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, July 26. – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association weekend of action.

The IRA tripleheader opened at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., where Hartmann opened the night by turning in a 12.671-second qualifying lap to place 22nd in the 30-car field.

From there, the 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award winner placed seventh in the first eight-lap heat race before starting third and racing to victory in the IRA B main to advance to main event competition. Hartmann wrapped up the night with an 18th-place showing in the A-main.

The following night saw Hartmann string together his best night of the 2025 season at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, July 26. After qualifying 13th in the 34-car field with a lap of 12.947 seconds, the Plymouth, Wis. native placed third in the first heat race to gain the 13th starting spot in the 30-lap headliner.

Hartmann stayed smooth and consistent in the main event to capture a season-best seventh-place showing.

The weekend closed out on Sunday, July 27, at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., where Hartmann qualified 13th out of 31 cars before placing fifth in the first heat race and coming home 17th in the 30-lap main event.

“It’s crazy how humbling this sport can be,” Hartmann said. “We had the best car all season and the worst in the matter of 24 hours. Ian, Eric, and Karlee did a great job helping the team this past weekend. We’ll take a couple of weeks and dial in some equipment for the remainder of the season.”

The 87A Hartmann Racing Team is scheduled to resume its Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series campaign on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Kenosha County Fair. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 30, 2025 – Following a three-week hiatus, Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team hit the track for a three-race weekend of competition with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action at Mississippi Thunder Speedway on Friday, July 25, Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, July 26 and Angell Park Speedway on Sunday, July 27.

Arenz opened the weekend with a 20th-place qualifying effort with a lap of 12.622 seconds in the 30-car field at the third-mile high-banked Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. on Friday, July 25.

The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion finished sixth in the second IRA heat race to roll off 18th in the 30-lap A-main. Arenz went on to advance eight spots to claim a solid 10th-place showing.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor found his groove at Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, July 26 by qualifying 11th in the 34-car field and gaining a dash berth by winning in the third heat race.

After placing fourth in the first four-lap IRA dash, Arenz started seventh and moved up three spots to tally a weekend-best fourth-place finish in the 30-lap main event.

At the historic Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, July 27, Arenz managed to qualify 16th in the 31-car field.

Following a sixth-place finish in the first heat race, Arenz gained the 17th starting position in the 30-lap Salute to Bryan Gapinski main event. Arenz clawed his way up six positions to cap off the weekend in 11th.

“The weekend wasn’t that great for us,” Arenz said. “We didn’t perform how I would have liked, but I am pleased we moved forward each night. We also tried some new setup things that didn’t go the best. On a positive note, the car is in one piece, and we all survived the hot temperatures. The only real problem I had this weekend was Sunday at Angell Park. I started losing oil pressure in the heat race. Luckily, it was just a gauge failure.”

After a two-week hiatus, the team is scheduled to resume its Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series campaign on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Kenosha County Fair. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.

Arenz will close out the weekend at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., as part of Corn Fest on Sunday, Aug. 17. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m., engine heat at 4:30 p.m., hot laps at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Pokorski finds speed amid motor woes in IRA tripleheader

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Alex Pokorski equaled his best career Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series A-main finish and qualified for his first IRA dash at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, July 26. – RC Custom Design photo

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 29, 2025 – Despite dealing with a misfiring motor, Alex Pokorski squeezed the most out of his No. 4 Akright Auto Motorsports machine during a three-night weekend stand with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series contested at three different Wisconsin dirt ovals.

On Friday, July 25, Pokorski made his first appearance at the lightning-fast high-banked third-mile Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. The fifth-year Sprint Car driver turned in the 12th fastest qualifying time in the 30-car field with a lap of 12.436 seconds.

After starting on the pole in the third eight-lap heat race, the West Bend, Wis. native placed third to earn a transfer spot into the 30-lap A-main. After launching from the 13th starting spot, Pokorski was running 19th when he pulled off with motor issues. He was scored 22nd.

One night later, on Saturday, July 26, Pokorski enjoyed a stellar start by qualifying a strong fifth in the 34-car field with a fast lap of 12.817 around the third-mile high-banked clay oval.

Following a fifth-place showing in the first IRA heat race, Pokorski gained an IRA dash berth for the first time in his career. With a third-place finish in the second four-lap dash, Pokorski rolled off sixth in the 30-lap main event.

After running as high as fifth, Pokorski brushed the wall on lap 22 and held on to equal his career-best IRA A-main showing with a 13th-place finish.

One night later at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., the team’s weekend-long motor woes came to a head.  After testing out the car during hot laps, Pokorski aborted his first qualifying attempt and retired the car for the remainder of the event.

“I enjoyed racing at Mississippi Thunder and Beaver Dam,” Pokorski said. “We had speed on Friday and Saturday. We just struggled with engine problems all weekend, which eventually took us out. Otherwise, we may have been faster yet.”

After taking the upcoming weekend off, the Alex Pokorski – Akright Auto Racing Team is set to make another start with the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing – Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars on Saturday, Aug. 9, at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.

The team is scheduled to resume its Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series campaign on Saturday, Aug. 16, at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Kenosha County Fair. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing at 6:45 p.m.

Pokorski will close out the IRA doubleheader weekend at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., as part of Corn Fest on Sunday, Aug. 17. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m., engine heat at 4:30 p.m., hot laps at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Karnitz bests Berth to bag PDTR 360 Sprint Car win

Schumacher, Urban, Taylor visit A-main victory lane

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 26, 2025 – Kevin Karnitz of West Bend fended off a fierce challenge from Cascade’s Brandon Berth to secure his second 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main victory of the 2025 campaign in the Christmas in July racing program at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 26.

Nick Schumacher of Eagle turned in an impressive victory in the 25-lap Oostburg Automotive Grand National main event.

Matt Urban of Milwaukee posted a flag-to-flag triumph in the 25-lap Sheboygan Flooring B Mod A-main.

Adam Taylor of Wheatfield, Ind. survived a spirited duel with Zach Raidart of Gurnee, Ill. to claim the 20-lap Autometer Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series A-main presented by guest division sponsor Sheboygan’s Rock Station 106.5 The Buzz.

Kevin Karnitz, who came into the night as the division points leader, grabbed the lead on the drop of the green flag of the PDTR 360 Sprint Car headliner from the pole with outside front row starter Tony Wondra of Campbellsport and Burnett’s Joseph Hintz, who started sixth, in tow during the initial laps.

The first of two caution flags appeared on lap eight when Hintz spun in turn four. On the restart, fourth starter Brandon Berth moved his way into third and then ripped off a slide job in turn four to sweep past Wondra into second on lap 16 as the leaders worked through the rear of the field.

With five laps to go, Berth hunted the lead and attempted to clear Karnitz with a slide job in turn two on the final scheduled lap, which Karnitz held at bay. However, the second caution flag of the race flew seconds later when Eric Wilke of Genesse stopped along the front stretch wall to set up a green-white-checkered flag finish.

Berth mounted one last bid for victory with a slider in turn four of the final circuit. However, Karnitz again turned back Berth’s challenge on the way to his second A-main victory of the 2025 campaign, eighth career PDTR 360 Sprint Car win and 10th main event victory of his Midwest Sprint Car Association career.

Berth had to settle for second, Wondra wound up third, third starter Tyler Davis of Franklin finished fourth and T.J. Smith of Greenville advanced from the ninth starting position to place fifth.

PDTR rookie Greg Goschey of Slinger led the first three laps of the Grand National A-main event from the pole before two-time PDTR Grand National champion Brad Lubach of Kiel swept into the lead on lap 4 from the third starting spot with a low move behind the wheel of Scott Sohrweide’s IMCA Stock Car.

Goschey battled back to briefly regain the lead on lap 6 before sliding back after contact with Lubach near the flagstand on lap 7. A caution flag appeared on lap 8, which bunched up the field.

However, the restart produced a six-car incident in turn one, which resulted in the machine of Chilton’s Nate Ruh flipping onto its roof. With Lubach back in the lead for the restart, Sheboygan’s Ryan Minster moved up from the seventh starting position to nail down second.

Another caution flag on lap 13 allowed 14th starter Nick Schumacher to shoot from third to second and quickly close the gap on Lubach. On lap 14, Schumacher bolted into the lead and pulled away to a full straightaway advantage in the closing laps on the way to his first PDTR Grand National A-main victory of the 2025 season and fourth career main event triumph at Plymouth.

Lubach, who owns the most career A-main victories in the history of the PDTR Grand National division, finished a close second in a guest driving role, Minster placed third, eighth starter Derek Kaat of Plymouth placed fourth and Will Schumacher of charged up from the 17th starting position to round out the top five.

Outside front row starter Matt Urban outpowered polesitter Parker Glander of Sheboygan Falls to lead the opening circuit of the B Mod main event. By lap five, Urban opened up a half-straightaway cushion over third starter Vince Jung of Iron Ridge.

After the first caution of the race slowed the pace on lap 7, ninth starter Cole Thomas of Germantown advanced into second and three-time PDTR B Mod champ Tim Warner of Malone charged up from the 11th starting position to move into third.

Following another caution on lap 14, Warner and Thomas mounted a spirited duel for the runner-up spot. However, Urban was too strong to be challenged down the stretch as he rolled to his first career PDTR B Mod A-main triumph.

Thomas claimed a hard-earned second place showing just ahead of Warner, who placed third, fourth starter Steve Lorier of Sheboygan finished fourth and Spencer Long of Sheboygan Falls moved up from the fifth starting spot to complete the top five.

After dueling with polesitter Tyler Kuxhouse of Antioch, Ill. for the top spot on the opening lap of the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series main event, second starter Adam Taylor assumed the top spot on lap 2. One lap later, Zach Raidart advanced from the third starting position to claim second and quickly bolted in to pressure Taylor for the lead.

Raidart hounded Taylor throughout the remainder of the race as the leader stuck to the outside groove of the third-mile Plymouth oval. Raidart tested Taylor with a pair of slide job attempts down the stretch. Still, Taylor was unfazed on the way to his second Plymouth Dirt Track win of the 2025 season and fifth Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series victory of the 2025 campaign.

Raidart finished a close second, Kuxhouse wound up third, eighth starter Jordan Miklas of Watertown finished fourth and sixth starter Bryce Andrews of Kenosha rounded out the top five.

Dustin Weiss of Iron Ridge won the 12-lap Grand National B main.

Billy Kreutz of Kiel wrapped up the overall fast qualifier award in the 360 Sprint Car division with a lap of 12.173 seconds.

Bryce Andrews was the top qualifier in the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series with a lap of 13.569 seconds.

The 10th full event of the 2025 PDTR campaign, sponsored by JDL Automotive and Detailing, attracted 85 cars, including 29 Grand Nationals, 22 360 Sprint Cars, 18 Wingless Sprint Cars and 16 B Mods.

The 2025 PDTR season continues Saturday, Aug. 2, with action in the Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car, Oostburg Automotive Grand National, Sheboygan Flooring B Mod and IRA Lightning Sprint divisions.

The evening will also feature the annual Kids Coin and Candy Drop courtesy of VanDerVaart Concrete Products, Kids Coloring Contest and Kids Glow Stick Giveaway sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.

Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying slated for 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

After clocking in with a time of 18.317 seconds in qualifying, the fifth-year Sprint Car competitor moved up two spots to place ninth in the first 8-lap heat race. The Plymouth, Wis. driver started 10th and advanced one position to cap his Knoxville Raceway debut with a ninth place showing in the 12-lap B main.

Hartmann mounts Outlaws charge, eyes Knoxville dream

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team bounced back from a rough start to secure a solid finish with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, July 12. – JW’s Car and Raccing photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 16, 2025 – In a season haunted by mechanical maladies and misfortune, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team encountered more of the same early before coming on strong late to cap an eventful night with the NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, July 12.

The Plymouth, Wis. driver’s fifth night of competition with the World of Outlaws in 2025 started on a sour note as his machine failed to fire for hot laps, qualifying and heat race action.

After finally diagnosing a problem with the car’s fueling system, Hartmann put together an inspired drive from 12th to sixth in the Last Chance Showdown to earn the final transfer spot into the 40-lap Larry Hillerud Memorial main event.

The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car rookie of the year drove a smooth and steady A main to finish 19th from the 24th starting spot.

“Man, what a struggle,” Hartmann, “We found out the tail tank was causing the car not to fire. It was the same one the car ran on the race prior. I didn’t really keep my composure at all. Then, when we pushed off for the B main, I realized I lost rear brakes, so that made it even worse in the B [Last Chance Showdown]. All in all, I can’t thank the Goldsberrys, Neumans and Dave Uttech enough for brainstorming and helping to get the car running. The car runs great now.”

Hartmann is ready to hit the road to Iowa to make his debut at the most renowned track in the sport of Sprint Car racing this Saturday, July 19.

“We will regroup and focus on Knoxville Raceway this weekend,” Hartmann said. “Racing at Knoxville is a lifelong dream. It’s finally coming true.”

Spectator gates open at 5:30 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 p.m. and racing commencing at 8 p.m. for the Knoxville Raceway weekly 410 Sprint Car program on historic half-mile semi-banked black dirt oval.

The event will be live-streamed on dirtvision.com.

Perfect pass punctuates Pokorski’s first Plymouth win

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Alex Pokorski and the members of the Akright Auto Racing Team celebrate Alex’s first career Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 12. – Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team photo

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 15, 2025 – As last-lap passes go, Alex Pokorski’s slide job to steal the victory in the 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car A-main at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 12, will not soon be forgotten.

Pokorski’s final lap heroics propelled him to not just any race win, but his first career PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event victory at his home track.

The night got off to a strong start as the West Bend native recorded his second consecutive fast qualifier award in PDTR 360 Sprint Car competition with a lap of 12.853 seconds to lead the 23-car field.

In the first eight-lap heat race, Pokorski advanced to third from the fourth starting spot to gain the pole position in the 25-lap main event.

After leading the first three laps, Pokorski relinquished the top spot to Billy Kreutz on lap 4. As the laps wound down, slower traffic became an issue for Kreutz, which allowed Pokorski to cut the gap significantly before making a bid for the lead to no avail on lap 19.

Three laps later, Pokorski ripped off a slide job in turn four to briefly take the lead. However, Kreutz battled back to reclaim the top spot with a slide job of his own in turn one on lap 23.

On the final circuit, Pokorski wound up tight and unleashed a thrilling race-winning slide job in turn two to seize the top spot en route to his first career PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory and second career Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win.

It was Pokorski’s first MSA victory since June 2, 2023 at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis.

In five PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car starts in 2025, Pokorski has racked up an A-main victory to go along with three additional podium finishes and a lowest finish of ninth.

“That race was a lot of fun,” Pokorski said. “I think it’s more rewarding than the last one because we had to really work for it, both on and off the track. The race I had with Billy [Kreutz] with the slide job to win on the final lap is how you dream of winning them. Dave [Schultz], Randy [Leamer] and my dad [Paul Pokorski] did a great job of helping me get the car set up just right. Also, getting our second quick time award in only five events with MSA was the cherry on top. Those results show we have a little more speed than last year, in addition to our feature finishes.”

Next up for the team is a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series tripleheader starting Friday, July 25 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., moving to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, July 26 and closing at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, July 27.

Neitzel nabs second MSA victory of 2025 season

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 13, 2025 – Scotty Neitzel of Beaver Dam drew on his 37 years of experience to negotiate a tricky track surface and hold the field at bay on the way to his second MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car A-main victory of the 2025 campaign in the 25-lap main event at Angell Park

Scotty Neitzel wrapped up his 15th career MMW Industrial Supply Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car A-main victory at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, July 13. – MSA Sprints photo

Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, July 13.

Five-time MSA champion Kurt Davis of South Milwaukee paced the opening three circuits of the A-main from the pole. On lap 4, rookie MSA competitor Tristan Furseth of Cambridge, who started second, used an outside move in turn one to take over the top spot.

Furseth quickly blasted his way to a full straightaway advantage over Davis before reaching lapped traffic on lap 7. Meanwhile, Neitzel, who started third, worked his way past Davis to assume second in the runner order on lap 8.

Heavy traffic bottled up Furseth’s efforts at the front of the field and allowed the two-time Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series champion to challenge for the lead on lap 11. After a brief side-by-side duel, Neitzel swept into the top spot in turn three on lap 12.

Neitzel, who claimed the 1996 Beaver Dam Raceway Bandit 360 Sprint Car title, built up a full straightaway cushion over Furseth on lap 16. However, two laps later, slower traffic again caused the lead gap to tighten as Furseth moved to within two car lengths of Neitzel.

As Furseth tried to chase down Neitzel on the undulating track surface, the lone caution flag of the race appeared on lap 24 when Joseph Hintz of Burnett stopped his machine in turn three.

Following a single-file restart, Neitzel pulled away over the final two laps to earn his second MSA 360 Sprint Car main event victory of the 2025 season and 15th career A-main triumph in MSA competition.

The win was Neitzel’s second in three 2025 starts with the MSA.

Furseth finished an MSA career-best second, fourth starter T.J. Smith of Greenville wound up third, Tyler Davis of Franklin placed fourth after starting seventh, and 2005 MSA champion Lance Fassbender of Burnett finished fifth.

“I’m happy to have a chance to race tonight and support the MSA,” Neitzel said. “It’s a great group to race with. It’s really neat to come here and get a win. It’s no easy feat to win one of these races.”

Neitzel was strong out of the gate as he set a new Angell Park Speedway 360 Sprint Car track record with a lap of 13.475 seconds in MSA qualifying.

The next event for the MMW Industrial Supply MSA Sprint Car Series is at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 19.

Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Schmidt finds return route to Plymouth Late Model victory lane on Wall of Fame Night

Pokorski, Loehr, Jung, Hafemann claim A-main triumphs

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 12, 2025 – Five-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Late Model champion Justin Schmidt of Cleveland snapped a nearly four-year victory drought by outdueling six-time PDTR Late

Model champ Brad Mueller of Random Lake in the 30-lap Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model Series headliner presented by Sheboygan Rock’s Station 106.5 The Buzz on Wall of Fame Induction Night at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 12.

West Bend native Alex Pokorski used a thrilling last-lap pass to claim his first career 25-lap Akright Auto 360 Sprint Car A-main victory.

Matt Loehr of Mount Calvary earned a flag-to-flag victory in the 25-lap Dirt Devil Grand National Series main event presented by Oostburg Automotive.

Dan Jung of Iron Ridge raced to his first career 25-lap PDTR Sheboygan Flooring B Mod triumph.

Brad Mueller jumped in the lead on the drop of the green flag of the PDTR Super Six Series 30-lap main event from the pole position with third starter Justin Schmidt trailing in second and outside front row starter Paul Parker of Kaukauna third.

As Mueller stayed glued to the inside lane of the multi-groove track surface, Schmidt worked the high groove to close in as the leaders hit lapped traffic on lap 8. Running hard along the cushion, Schmidt continued to stalk Mueller over the next 15 laps before powering around Mueller in turn two on lap 23.

Three laps later, Mueller battled back to reclaim the top spot with a low move amid slower traffic. However, the cushion-pounding Schmidt refused to be denied as he fought back to surge into the lead once again in turn one on lap 28.

Schmidt held on over the final two circuits on the way to his first Late Model A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track since July 24, 2021, and 19th career PDTR Late Model main event win in the caution-free race.

Mueller had to settle for second, Parker placed third, Joel Bennett of Hortonville finished fourth after starting fifth, and eighth starter Brett Swedberg of Shawano rounded out the top five.

“This win is a long time coming,” Schmidt said in victory lane. “We haven’t been very good over the last few years, but we’ve just kept working and working at it. It was a fun race. Brad [Mueller] really raced me clean.”

After a two-car incident aborted the initial start, polesitter Alex Pokorski claimed the lead on the opening lap of the 25-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car main event with outside front row starter Billy Kreutz of Kiel holding down second.

On lap 4, Kreutz rode the high line to surge into the lead. After catching slower traffic on lap 8, Kreutz

continued to hold down a full straightaway cushion over Pokorski at the halfway mark of the event.

Over the next six laps, Pokorski cut the gap down significantly as Kreutz dealt with heavy lapped traffic. Pokorski attempted to nose past Kreutz on lap 19, but Kreutz held strong to the top spot.

Three laps later, Pokorski ripped off a slide job in turn four to briefly take the lead. However, it turned out to be brief as Kreutz battled back to reclaim the top spot with a slide job of his own in turn one on lap 23.

On the final circuit, Pokorski unleashed the winning slide job in turn two to seize the top spot en route to his first career PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main victory and second career Midwest Sprint Car Association main event win.

Kreutz, who tallied back-to-back Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Winged Super Modified championships at Plymouth in 1998 and 1999, wound up second, two-time and defending PDTR 360 Sprint Car champ Ben Schmidt of Plymouth placed third from the fifth starting spot, ninth starter Brandon Berth took fourth and Tyler Davis of Franklin completed the top five after starting seventh.

“It was great to race with Billy Kreutz over the last few laps,” Pokorski said. “On the last lap, I just sent it in there and wound up with the lead. I definitely had to work for that one.”

Behind the wheel of the J.J. Pagel-owned 82H car of Bristol Hittman, polesitter Matt Loehr paced the field on the first circuit of the 25-lap Dirt Devil Grand National Series headliner with third starter Jack Wiroll of Sheboygan in second. By lap 6, the 2018 PDTR Grand National champion had built up a full straightaway cushion over Wiroll.

Two laps later, fifth starter Nick Schumacher of Eagle took over second with Jeff Steenbergen of Johnson Creek surging into third from the 12th starting position.

A caution flag appeared on lap 2 for a three-incident in turn two on lap 11. On the restart, a collision with a pair of cars sent Wiroll’s flipping into the front stretch wall. Loehr again dominated the restart and quickly pulled away from the field.

Schumacher reeled in Loehr on lap 19 and moved in to within striking distance. However, Loehr proved to be too much to overtake over the final six laps on the way to his 13th career PDTR Grand National main event victory.

Schumacher finished second, two-time and defending PDTR Grand National champ Will Sorce moved up from the ninth starting spot to place third, three-time PDTR Grand National champion Don Sorce Jr. bolted up from the 18th starting position to finish fourth and seventh starter Dustin Weiss of Iron Ridge completed the top five.

Polesitter Brandon Knepprath of Kewaskum persevered through three caution flags for single-car spins to pace the first 17 laps of the 25-lap B Mod main event.

On lap 16, Dan Jung, who started fifth, moved in to challenge Knepprath for the lead along the inside line. After trying to work past Knepprath along the high and low grooves, Jung finally surged ahead on lap 18

with a high move in turn two.

Following two more caution flags for a pair of single-car spins, Jung pulled away to notch his first career PDTR B Mod A-main triumph.

Knepprath placed second, third starter Rory Welch of Plymouth took third, three-time PDTR B Mod champion Tim Warner of Malone finished fourth from the 11th starting position, and fourth starter Spencer Long of Sheboygan Falls rounded out the top five.

After being inducted into the Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame earlier in the night, Butch Hafemann of Campbellsport was the winner of the special Vintage Modified main event.

Brad Weiss and Ryan Minster of Sheboygan claimed 12-lap PDTR Grand National B main wins.

Jim Zdroik of Hartford captured the 12-lap B Mod B main.

Brett Swedberg of Shawano registered the fastest Super Six Late Model Series qualifying lap in 13.707 seconds.
