Wirth to appear at Falls Firehouse Pizza, Book Heads

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) Aug. 3, 2017 – Following the glowing response to his first book, “Days Gone By – Growing Up In Small Town Wisconsin,” Sheboygan Falls, Wis. native John Wirth has scheduled a pair of appearances in the Sheboygan County area to discuss the book and meet with readers.
Released on Aug. 23, 2016, the book has been a hit with readers who have picked up it at selected locations in the city of Sheboygan Falls, ordered it via book publisher Pedal Down Promotions or on amazon.com.
“Days Gone By The Falls – Growing up in small town Wisconsin” is Wirth’s poignant, colorful account of his experiences and exploits growing up in Sheboygan Falls in the 1950s and 1960s. The book features a collection of 39 newspaper columns, which have appeared on a regular basis in The Sheboygan Falls News weekly newspaper since 2007.
The 124-page book, published by Pedal Down Promotions, also includes dozens of black-and-white photos from the era. The images capture the time period and allow readers to become acquainted with several unique characters who inhabited many memorable locales in Sheboygan Falls.
To date, the book has sold several hundred copies and gained favorable reviews from readers on amazon.com.
Wirth’s first “Days Gone By” appearance, which is billed as a book discussion and author meet-and-greet session, will be held at Falls Firehouse Pizza, located at 109 Maple St. in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., on Thursday, Aug. 17.
During the event, which will run from 6-8 p.m., copies of “Days Gone By – Growing Up In Small Town Wisconsin” will be available for purchase and Wirth will be available to sign copies of the book.
One day later, on Friday, Aug. 18, Wirth will be appearing for meet-and-greet and book-signing event at Book Heads Book Store, located at 214 Mill St. in Plymouth, from 1-3 p.m.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the many loyal readers of The Sheboygan Falls News that have enjoyed my articles over the past 10 years,” Wirth said. “Ever since my book has come out, I have heard from many of my readers how much they enjoyed reading the stories.”
Wirth grew up in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and after graduating from Sheboygan Falls High School, he served two years aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Verhage. John and Marilyn lived together in Sheboygan Falls for three years. In 1970, John and Marilyn left the cold Wisconsin winters and moved to their current home in Largo, Fla.
“Writing about the events in my life growing up in a small Wisconsin town has proven that my experiences were very similar to the ones others experienced in their lives as well during the late 1950s and early 1960s,” Wirth said. “Publishing my book has been a wonderful experience for me. It is something I will always remember.”
