Drawing off the close competition, big personalities and heated rivalries that have formed the firm foundation the grassroots sport of dirt track racing, a new book titled “70 Years of Plymouth Dirt Track Racing – Covering the 1950 through 2020 Seasons” traces all the twists and turns of every season of racing action to date at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds dirt track facility in Plymouth, Wis.
Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Racing Historian Dennis Darovich of Sheboygan, Wis. and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Historian George Baumann of Waupun, Wis. have teamed up to chronicle all of the vivid details through a season-by-season account, which features a total of 183 photos, 140 of which appear in color.
Additional highlights of the 246-page full-color book, published by Pedal Down Promotions of Manitowoc, Wis., include a chapter devoted to women in racing, final point standings for each season between 1950 to 2020, driver photograph identification pages and human interest stories.
“This book provides the definitive Plymouth dirt track racing history,” Darovich said. “It covers all of the years from 1950 and 2020, which makes it very comprehensive for anyone that has an interest in the history Plymouth track from way back in the beginning years all the way up until the 2020 season.
