(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 6, 2019 – On an evening that honored the memory one of the team’s most loyal supporters, Paul Pokorski and the Pokorski Motorsports team turned in an inspired top-five A-main showing and visited victory lane in heat race action, during the 17th Midwest Sprint Car Association event of the 2019 season at Outagamie Speedway Powered by EWSC Racing in Seymour, Wis. on Friday, Aug. 2.

Pokorski, who lists Outagamie Speedway among his favorite tracks, was among 29 MSA drivers registering for the Dave “Hagar” Nelson Memorial Night of Racing at the third-mile clay oval.

The 27th-year driver started second in the third MSA 10-lap heat race and fell into the second spot behind polesitter Kurt Davis on the opening lap. On lap 3, Davis suddenly slowed and dropped out of the race, relinquishing the lead to Pokorski.

Once ahead, Pokorski had to hold off a hard-charging Travis Arenz in the closing laps to secure his second heat race victory of the 2019 MSA campaign and nail down a spot in the 22-car MSA A-main lineup.

After starting fourth in the 25-lap A main, Pokorski held down the fifth spot in the early stages of the race as he rode the high groove around the slick, but two-groove racing surface.

On lap 12, Adam Miller dove low to steal fifth place from Pokorski in turn four. However, Pokorski battled his way back into the top five when he utilized the high line to power around Shane Wenninger to gain fifth in turn one on lap 18.

In the closing laps, Danny Schlafer moved in to engaged in a heated duel with Pokorski for fifth place. Schlafer ducked under Pokorsk on lap 24 to briefly take the spot. However, Pokorski battled back to return the favor on the final lap to nip Schlafer for fifth in the final running order behind race winner Lance Fassbender.

The finish marked Pokorski third top-five and ninth top-10 A-main showing of the 2019 season.

“It was a good night for us at Outagamie Speedway,” Pokorski said. “We worked off our notes from last time we were there and we were pretty good for a set up standpoint. The track at Seymour gets really slick, but it’s very racy. It’s a lot of fun and I was happy with the results.

“It was nice of EWSC to honor Hagar with a night of his own and I’m sure he was smiling as he watched over us,” he said.

Shortly after the team arrived at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 3, heavy rain hit the track, forcing the autograph night and past champions night program to be cancelled.

The Pokorski Motorsports team is gearing up for a Midwest Sprint Car Association doubleheader this weekend at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 10 and at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, Aug. 11.
