(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 23, 2019 – For a track that has not been particularly kind to Paul Pokorski and his Pokorski Motorsports team over the years, a top-10 A main showing an relatively a trouble-free night at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. in Midwest Sprint Car Association action on Sunday, July 21 can definitely be considered a success.
After the team’s scheduled appearance at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 20 was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions, Pokorski was among 27 drivers signed in for a Midwest Sprint Car Association event at historic Angell Park Speedway on Sunday, July 21.
After starting second in the first MSA heat race, Pokorski settled in behind polesttier Ben Schmidt on the opening lap and held the position throughout to earn a transfer spot into the A main.
Following the invert draw, Pokorski rolled off seventh in the 25-lap A main. In the early stages of the race, Pokorski moved up a spot into sixth on lap 5 before dropping to seventh on lap 11 before a caution flag appeared when Blake Wondra stopped in turn four on lap 12.
On the restart, Pokorski got boxed in and dropped back to 10th on lap 13. Four laps later, Pokorski worked the low line to pass Doug Wondra for ninth on lap 17. In the closing laps. Adam Miller, who spun on lap 4 and had to restart at the rear of the field, moved in to pass Pokorski for ninth, which relegated the West Bend driver to 10th at the finish.
“Overall, it was an okay night,” Pokorski said. “The car felt pretty good, but we were a little slow. We missed it just a little bit on the set up. It was nice to have a clean, uneventful night of racing though.”
The next event for Pokorski Motorsports will be at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Thursday, July 25 in conjunction with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Championships versus Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association Sprint Car event.
Spectator gates open at 4:30 with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and qualifying to follow before racing begins.
“I’m really looking forward to Thursday night at PDTR,” Pokorski said. “As a driver, I’m excited as the car was really good the last time we were there. As a fan, I think the IRA/All Star show should be great.”
