Arenz draws curtain on 2024 IRA campaign in fleet fashion

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 2, 2024 – Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports crew put a lid on a 2024 season complicated with motor and chassis issues by packaging together a fourth consecutive top-five performance with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at the seventh annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Early on in the night, Arenz flexed his muscle at his home track by qualifying fifth overall in the 33-car IRA field with a lap of 11.854 seconds.

After starting third in the first eight-lap IRA heat race, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion turned in a stellar effort to earn his fourth heat race win of the 2024 campaign.

Thanks to his strong qualifying and heat race runs, Arenz advanced to the first IRA four-lap dash starting second and finishing third to gain the fifth starting spot in the 30-lap main event.

The 37-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing A-main winner in four different divisions was embroiled in a heated duel at the front of the field throughout the event.

After racing in the top five during the entire 30 laps, Arenz capped off the 2024 season with a fourth-place A-main showing in a race won by Scotty Thiel. The fourth-place run marked Arenz’s fourth consecutive top-five main event finish.

“Getting back in this car was like riding a bike,” Arenz said. “Once I figured out what that chassis liked when it was a 360 car, it felt really good most of the night. We had a right rear tire leaking during the feature, which made the car a little more of a handful. I had to be cautious about where I ran.”

In 19 410 Sprint Car events during the 2024 campaign, Arenz collected eight top-five A-main showings, 13 top-10 main event finishes and 14 top-15 A-main runs to go along with four heat race victories, 11 dash appearances, one dash victory and one fast qualifier award.

Despite missing nine IRA events primarily due to motor issues, Arenz posted an 11th-place finish in the final 2024 IRA point standings.

“The one word to describe this season would be ‘frustrating.’ Arenz said. “A lot of things this year didn’t go as planned. On a positive note, I learned a lot this season and I was able to get more comfortable. Missing a handful of weeks due to the engine failure we experienced is not something I wanted to happen. That’s racing though. It was out of our control.

“As for the 2025 season, I haven’t thought about it yet,” he said. “We’ll see.”

The Travis Arenz 25T Motorsports Team continues to seek crew members to assist the team. Those interested can send a direct message to Travis through the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page.

“I am still looking for another set of crew hands to help out,” Arenz said. “Those interested can reach out to me for more info.”

Hard charger switch stays engaged for Arenz’s IRA 141 top five run

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 18, 2024 – One week after mounting a stirring run to the front during which he advanced 12 positions to claim Hard Charger Award accolades in Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series A-main competition at the Cedar Lake Speedway, Travis Arenz accomplished more of the same at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 14 moving up eight spots to claim yet another crowd-pleasing top five A-main showing.

Arenz opened the evening by qualifying 10th in the 27-car field with a lap of 11.724 seconds around the third-mile semi-banked egg-shaped oval.

The 17th-year competition fired off from the pole in the first IRA heat race before falling back to fifth on the opening lap as Logan Julien, Blake Nimee, Danny Schlafer and Dave Uttech swept past.

Following a yellow flag on lap 3, Arenz used the restart to power around Uttech to claim a fourth place finish in the eight-lap event.

The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion took off from the 12th starting spot in the 30-lap IRA main event and wasted no time working his way to the front.

By lap 5, Arenz had moved up to eighth before a three-car incident in turn four brought out the caution flag on lap 12. After another incident on the restart resulted in a red flag, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor moved up to sixth on lap 18.

The final caution flag appeared on lap 22, which set up a frantic final eight-lap dash to the finish. Arenz, who won the Northern Sport Mod track championship at 141 Speedway in 2016, worked his way into the top five on lap 23 before vaulting into fourth on lap 27 thanks to a few dynamic moves along the cushion.

Arenz went on to rack up his sixth top five A-main showing of the 2024 campaign with a strong fourth place finish in a race won by Jordan Goldesberry.

“With my main chassis having been damaged at Sturgeon Bay, I decided to put together one of my old 360 chassis for 141,” Arenz said. “To say the beginning of the night had struggles is an understatement. We had everything from the car not wanting to fire to a power steering line failure. Everything was very chaotic.

“We were finally able to get into our normal rhythm after the heat race,” he said. “I just wanted a solid finish in the A-main. I was able to find my groove and start picking cars off. I believe we had a car capable of winning the race.”

The team’s tentative plan is to enter an unsanctioned $4,250-to-win 410 Sprint Car event as part of the Fall Classic at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Winged Crate Sprint Cars, A Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bandits are also on the card.

Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 4:30 p.m. and racing at 5:30 p.m.

All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Arenz rebounds with sterling top five Cedar Lake Richert run

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 11, 2024 – Six days after crashing out of contention for a top finish at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team bounced back in a major way with a sterling performance in the prestigious 24th annual Jerry Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

After forgoing the IRA’s stop at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 6 to allow extra time to button up his 25T entry following The Hill wreck, Arenz opened the $7,000-to-win Richert Memorial event by qualifying 24th in the 32-car field with a lap of 11.787 seconds.

The 17th-year competitor then advanced from the sixth starting position to nab a fourth place showing the fourth eight-lap IRA heat race and secure a spot in the 30-lap headline event.

“After finding significant frame damage on our main car, we used the spare car at Cedar Lake,” Arenz said. “One of our other motors got completed on Friday as well, so I was able to pick that up to put in the spare car. I was pretty frustrated with our qualifying results at Cedar Lake. I’m not used to driving the backup car as much as my main car and it handles differently.

“In the heat race, I knew I needed to at least pass one car and stay in that position,” he said. “The track kept having more and more moisture come out as the night progressed, so I needed to be strategic with what lines I ran and when. I did make a mistake and spun during the heat, but I was able to come back and earn a transfer position to the feature.”

The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion started 16th and wasted little time moving to the front of the top quality-filled field.

True to his hard-charging style, Arenz utilized every available racing line to slice his way to the front of the pack. In the closing stages of the race, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor found himself dueling with several 410 Sprint Car racing heavy hitters, including Scotty Thiel, Joel Myers Jr., Kerry Madsen and Justin Henderson.

Arenz used strong restarts in the closing stages of the race to pull out a strong fourth place showing and earn hard charger honors after advancing 12 spots in a race won by Danny Sams III.

The fourth place finish marked Arenz’s fifth top five and 10th top 10 showing in 15 IRA events during the 2024 campaign.

“I thought a lot about what changes I wanted to make for the feature,” Arenz said. “With the amount of moisture, the track still had come feature time, there were different things I could adjust to achieve similar reactions of the car. My biggest goal for the night was to finish a feature with this car. In all the times it has raced, I have never finished a race with it. So, it was huge to not only complete a feature but also earn the hard charger award.”

The 25T Travis Arenz Motorsports Team is scheduled to compete with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 14. Following a rain out on May 26, the event is set to be the lone scheduled IRA appearance at 141 Speedway in 2024.

The IRA Lightning Sprints, IMCA Sport Mods and Pro Legends are also on the card with spectator gates opening at 3 p.m. and racing slated to begin at 6 p.m.

All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Arenz puts on back-to-front show in Plymouth IRA action

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 31, 2024 – With a total of 37 A-main victories covering four diverse racing divisions and a total of three track titles to his credit during his 17-year racing career, The Plymouth Dirt Track is a special place for Travis Arenz.

Considering his resume at the third-mile clay oval, strong performances at his home track shouldn’t come as a surprise. The latest show-stopping fete of Arenz’s impressive accomplishment-filled career came on Saturday, July 27 when “Mr. Excitement” came through the B main to record a stirring top-five showing in a Bumper to Bumper 410 Sprint Car Series A-main at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.

The night got off to an extremely slow start for the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. racer as he timed in 25th quick in the 28-car IRA field with a lap of 13.196 seconds on a rapidly drying out racing surface.

After being buried in the ninth starting position in the first eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz advanced three spots to come home sixth to fall just one spot out of an automatic transfer to the 25-lap A-main.

Starting third in the IRA B-main, the 2021 and 2022 Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing champion came home second to earn a berth in the 25-lap headliner.

After rolling off from the 20th starting position, Arenz negotiated two red flags and a pair of caution periods while mounting a furious change from the back to the front of the field.

Utilizing the top, middle and bottom grooves of the dry, smooth and multi-groove Plymouth Dirt Track racing surface, Arenz bolted into the top 10 on lap 16. He then benefitted from a pair of caution flags during the final 10 laps of the race to weave his way past a slew of fast cars to advance to the checkered flag in fourth place behind race winner Joel Myers Jr.

Arenz’s plus-16 position A-main run netted him his third top-five and fourth top-10 main event showing in 11 IRA events during the 2024 campaign.

“As usual, I didn’t draw the best to start the night,” Arenz said. “When we were supposed to go out for engine heat, my car wouldn’t fire. We found a fueling issue. Once that was taken care of, it finally fired and we were able to hot lap. Qualifying was horrible. The car handled horribly and the motor fell on its face.

“I missed the setup a bit in the heat race, which caused us to have to run the B-main,” he said. “We transferred to the A-main and I was able to drive from 20th up to fourth. I went into the feature knowing I needed to be patient and hit my marks. I quickly started picking off cars each lap and just knew I had to stay consistent. This was an outcome we really needed.”

The team’s schedule for the remainder of the 2024 season will depend in part on available crew help.

“As for future racing, I would like to race as much as possible,” Arenz said. “However, that will include talking to the crew to see who can go to which events. Currently, I’m looking for another set of crew hands to help finish the year.”

Anyone interested in assisting the team as a crew member is invited to send a message to the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page.

Following two weekends off, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team intends return to action with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series for a fair-filled doubleheader weekend kicking off with the annual Kenosha County Fair event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The all-open-wheel event will also feature the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series and the IRA Lightning Sprints.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m.

The IRA 2024 doubleheader weekend wraps up with the annual Corn Fest event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, Aug. 18 with the Badger Midgets filling out the card.

Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. with engine heat at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.

Following hiatus, Arenz returns to IRA action for three-race western swing

Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

After nearly six weeks away from competition due to motor woes, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports were back in action for a three-race swing through Minnesota and North Dakota with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series July 18 through July 20. – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 24, 2024 – After sitting on the sidelines for nearly six weeks with motor issues, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsport Team got back in the saddle again for the three-race Buffalo Wild Wings King of the Wings Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series and Northern Outlaw Sprint Association swing through Minnesota and North Dakota Thursday, July 18 through Saturday, July 20.

In his first appearance at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., Arenz opened the tripleheader race weekend by qualifying third in Flight A and 13th overall in the 36-car field with a lap of 14.345 seconds on the three-eighths-mile clay oval on Thursday, July 18.

The 17th-year competitor finished seventh after starting third in the third eight-lap IRA-NOSA heat race before starting second and finishing third in the 12-lap B main to earn a spot in the 25-lap headliner.

After starting 23rd, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion moved up nine spots to place 16th in a race won by Mark Dobmeier.

One night later, the team moved on to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. for the first of back-to-back nights at the high-banked quarter-mile clay oval.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver clocked in fifth in Flight A and sixth overall in the 40-car field in IRA-NOSA qualifying with a time of 10.393 seconds. He then started and finished second in the first IRA-NOSA eight-lap heat race to advance to the 30-lap main event.

Arenz fired off from the 11th starting spot and improved three positions to record a solid eighth place finish in another race won by Mark Dobmeier.

In the final night of the three-race swing at River Cities Speedway on Saturday, July 20, Arenz turned in the ninth fastest qualifying time in Flight A and 23rd in overall qualifying in 10.668 seconds. He then finished second from the fifth starting spot in the first eight-lap IRA-NOSA heat race to claim the 11th starting position in the 35-lap headliner.

Fourteen laps into the event, Arenz’s evening ended following an incident in turn three while running 11th. He was credited with a 22nd place finish.

“I was definitely going crazy without being able to compete for the last handful of weeks, but I was thankful to be able to go to a new track and return to River Cities last week,” Arenz said. “I would like to say driving a Sprint Car is like riding a bike. In some ways it is. However, there are a lot of things that go into our operation that benefit us much more when we compete weekly.

“As for my performance, I would have preferred a better outcome,” he said. “Our crew was smaller than normal, so the few people we had were asked to take on more responsibility. I missed some of my marks on the track, and I missed the set ups a touch. But all in all, I’m glad to be back at the track competing.”

The Travis Arenz Motorsports team is scheduled to compete in a doubleheader weekend with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Cars, which kicks off with the annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, July 26. The Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars and IMCA Modifieds will also be in action.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with warm-ups at 6 p.m. and hot laps to follow before opening ceremonies at 7:15 p.m.

The team’s doubleheader racing weekend wraps up with a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 27. The Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars and Sheboygan Flooring B Mods are also on the card.

Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with “on-track action” scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m.

All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Arenz racks up IRA top-five at Wilmot

By Jeff Pederson-Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 29, 2024 – After missing out on a potential A-main victory when a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association A-main was called due to curfew six days earlier at Angell Park Speedway, Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team came back firing to post the team’s second top-five main event showing of the 2024 campaign in IRA Founders’ Night action at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 25.

Arenz, who was leading the previous IRA main event at Angell Park Speedway on Sunday, May 19 when the race was canceled short of the half-way point due to the city of Sun Prairie’s 10 p.m. curfew, opened the night by qualifying sixth among the 33 entrants with a lap of 13.021 seconds.

The 17th-year racer earned his second heat race victory of the 2024 season after starting second in the first eight-lap IRA heat race. The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion started third and wound up fifth in the second four-lap IRA dash to nail down the 10th starting spot in the 30-lap IRA main event.

Following the first of four yellow-red flags, Arenz advanced to sixth in the running order before moving up to pass Blake Nimee for fourth on lap 11. However, Nimee returned the favor on the following lap to push the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver back to fifth.

Sprinkled around three more race slow downs/stoppages over the ensuing 19 laps, Arenz engaged in a spirited back-and-forth duel with Mike Reinke for fourth place.

Arenz held on in the closing laps to secure his second top-five A-main finish of the 2024 IRA campaign with a fifth place showing in a race won by Scotty Neitzel.

The team was scheduled to compete in an IRA event at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Sunday, May 26. However, the event was canceled due to rain.

“I made sure not to over adjust the car and it seemed to help,” Arenz said. “Wilmot is always tricky it seems. From corner to corner, it’s different. I’m happy our qualifying has been more consistent, and we have been making more dash appearances this year. Overall, I can’t complain about a top-five finish. It could’ve been better, but I just didn’t finish the job.”

Following the Wilmot event, IRA officials engaged in the process of investigating the team’s equipment. As a result, the team’s potential racing plans for the upcoming weekend have not yet been determined.

“As for race plans this weekend, it’s up in the air,” Arenz said. “We are waiting for our MSD box to come back after officials took it to be inspected again after Wilmot. Traction control allegations are back. We are doing everything we can to allow IRA officials to do what they need to do to prove every aspect of our operation is legal.”

Arenz will return to IRA competition just a stone’s throw from his race shop for the fourth annual Road America Challenge at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 8. The PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Cars and PDTR Grand Nationals are also on the card.

Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with on-track action scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m.

One night later, Arenz will visit Angell Park Speedway for the second time in 2024 for the IRA Norm Nelson Classic on Sunday, June 9.

Spectator gates for the program, which also features the Badger Midgets, open at 4 p.m. with racing scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Arenz repeats as IRA Sycamore runner up

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 15, 2024 – In his various journeys to a variety of different tracks throughout the Midwest with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series over the past two seasons, Travis Arenz appears to have taken a special liking to Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Ill.

For the second time in two tries, Arenz came “oh so close” to parking his 25T 410 Sprint Car in victory lane before eventually settling for a second-place finish in A-main competition on Saturday, May 11.

The two-time Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champ opened the program by qualifying 11th with a lap of 12.880 seconds.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver earned the pole in the second eight-lap IRA heat race and held on to notch his first heat race victory of the 2024 campaign.

After starting second and finishing third in the second four-lap dash, Arenz nailed down the sixth starting spot for the 30-lap main event. The first several laps of the race played to Arenz’s favor as he moved into second after passing Jordan Goldesberry on lap 7.

Two laps later, Arenz maneuvered in to briefly pull even with leader Jake Neuman on lap 9. However, Neuman fended off Arenz’s charge to retain the top spot.

As the laps wound down, Arenz dueled back and forth with Jake Blackhurst before eventually surging ahead for good to record his second consecutive IRA A-main showing in a race won by Jake Neuman.

“Qualifying didn’t go as well as I would like,” Arenz said. “I was not consistent with each lap. The heat race felt comfortable and I ran well. In the dash, I fell back a few spots, which isn’t what I like to see happen, but I was able to start sixth in the feature.

“The track was definitely tricky during the feature,” he said. “I had to be patient and wait for us all to find our groove and hit my marks. I felt like we had a car to win but I was not aggressive enough when I needed to be. I broke the Jacobs ladder halfway through the race and had a wheel bleeder malfunction. Overall, I’m happy with a podium and I’m looking to get stronger each week.”

The Travis Arenz Motorsports Team is set for a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series doubleheader weekend opening with the first of five scheduled 2024 appearances at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, May 18, along with the Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Cars and Autometer Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars on Saturday, May 18.

Spectator gates open at 4:30 p.m. with on-track action slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.

One night later, the team will head to Sun Prairie, Wis. for a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, May 19.

The Badger Midgets and Legends are also on the card.

Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with engine heat scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies set for 6 p.m. The Badger Midgets and Legends will also be in action.

All 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 4, 2023 – After depleting their allotment of 410 Sprint Car motors at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 8, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team dug out the team’s 360 motor to close out the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association season as part of the sixth annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 30.

With his underpowered motor bolted in for the 2023 lid-sealing event, Arenz qualified 35th in the 38-car IRA field with a lap of 12.269 seconds. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion then lined up 10th and finished ninth in the eight-lap IRA heat race three.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor started 18th in the 12-lap IRA B main needing to finish in the top four to advance to the 30-lap IRA Rick Schmidt Memorial A main.

Despite racing against his fellow 410 Sprint Car competitors with a 360 motor, Arenz put on a show, advancing from 18th to seventh on lap 7. However, Arenz was unable to advance further to the front before ending his rookie IRA 410 Sprint Car Series season with a seventh place B main finish.

Arenz’s first full season in the 410 Sprint Car ranks turned heads as he earned his first career IRA A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 1 to go along with 12 top-five and 15 top-10 A-main showings, as well as three heat race victories, seven dash appearances and two dash victories.

On the strength of his third place showing in the final 2023 Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Car Series point standings, Arenz claimed the Sage Fruit Apple Cup Award for finishing as the second highest point earning rookie in the final 2023 IRA point standings.

“I learned a lot in my rookie season with the IRA,” Arenz said. “The biggest thing was that qualifying pretty much makes the night. This is something I am still working on becoming more consistent with, but we are making improvements.

“Winning our first IRA feature as a rookie has to be my proudest moment of the season,” he said. “The entire night just had this feeling. Everything went the way it needed to go to get that first feature win. I’m also proud of what we accomplished with the small budget we had this year compared to others that we race with.”

The 2023 Travis Arenz Motorsports team consists of pit crew members Greg Piedot, Jerrod Gamb, Emily Stadler, Cameron Fritz, Bobby Bonelli and Trevor Hittman (public relations).

“I have so many people to thank,” Arenz said. “All of our great sponsors, especially those who have stuck with us over all these years, are very much appreciated. I also want to thank our many, many fans and, of course, all my crew members.

“Plans for 2024 are uncertain at the moment,” he said. “Regardless, we will still have a 410 car in the shop.”

Arenz puts home track knowledge on display in top-five Plymouth IRA run

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Travis Arenz turned in his 11th top-five finish of the 2023 season with a fourth place showing in a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event held during the Sheboygan County Fair on Saturday, Sept. 2 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. – RC Custom Design photo

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 6, 2023 – As the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series turns down the home stretch, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team continue to string together impressive performances in their first full season of 410 Sprint Car competition.

After battling through an engine hiccup during the sixth annual Harry Neitzel Tribute race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 1, Arenz bounced back with a strong fourth-place A-main showing at the team’s home track – The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. during the annual 2023 Sheboygan County Fair Night event on Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Labor Day weekend of IRA doubleheader action kicked off on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway “horsepower half mile” facility. With 23 IRA 410 Sprint cars on hand, Arenz qualified ninth with a lap of 17.002 seconds.

After starting on the outside of the front row in the third eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz pulled into the infield on lap 3 with an ailing motor and was scored seventh in the race.

The engine issue prompted the team to turn to its back-up car for the 20-lap Harry Neitzel Tribute A main. After rolling off 22nd, Arenz worked his way up to place 15th in the race, which was won by Scotty Thiel.

“We definitely struggled at Dodge a little,” Arenz said. “In the heat race, the motor got warm and I lost power. We found water coming out of the head studs and we ended up losing a head gasket. My crew and I decided the best option was to get the back-up car down. We had to start in the back for the feature, but we were able to pass seven cars. Finishing in one piece was the goal, after the rough start.”

The following night, the team returned to the familiar confines of The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. for the annual Sheboygan County Fair Night IRA Sprint Car event and the fifth 2023 IRA appearance at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds third-mile clay oval track.

With 30 cars on hand, Arenz turned in a fast lap of 11.973 seconds to qualify third overall. The 16th year driver then started and finished fourth in the third eight-lap IRA heat race.

The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion lined up on the pole of the first four-lap IRA dash and led throughout to notch his second IRA dash victory of the 2023 season and nail down the pole for the 30-lap main event.

Arenz rode the low groove to lead the first four laps of the 30-lap headliner from the pole. On lap five, outside front row starter Jake Neuman swept past the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver into the lead along the cushion.

Following a caution on lap 8, Bill Balog relegated Arenz to third. After two more caution periods, Joel Myers Jr. slipped past Arenz in the closing laps to take over third. Arenz went on to secure a fourth place showing for his 11th top-five and 14th top-10 A-main finishes during the 2023 season in a race won by Jake Neuman.

“Plymouth was definitely one of our better nights,” Arenz said. “We qualified third quick, made the dash, won the dash and started on the pole of the feature. I made a few mistakes driving and didn’t always hit my marks in the A main, but had to try something on a few laps to try to make clean passes. I finished fourth, but, overall, I can’t complain.”

The Plymouth event also marked the conclusion of the 2023 Hopf Farms Bullring Showdown with Arenz earning a third place finish in the five-race series behind runner-up Jordan Goldesberry and champion Brenham Crouch.

Arenz and 25T Travis Arenz Motorsports team will travel to the Northern and Western portions of the state of Wisconsin for the first time this weekend, starting Friday, Sept. 8 at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis. for the Northern Nationals.

The WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Midwest Mods will also be on the card. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with racing at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team is scheduled to make its debut at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. for the prestigious 23rd annual Jerry Richert Memorial.

The all-Sprint Car program will also feature the Midwest Power Series 360 Sprint Cars and Traditional Sprint Cars.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

“I’m excited to go to Superior and Cedar Lake this upcoming weekend, as they are two tracks I have never raced at before,” Arenz said.

All 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

The 2023 Travis Arenz Motorsports sponsorship partners include Professional Plating Inc., Service One Transportation, Inc, Don and Lynn Kiel, Oostburg Concrete, Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Schoen’s Wildlife Removal, Premier Insurance Solutions-Craig Ladwig, Pallet Works, DW Fence, Little Bears Tree Service LLC, Lake Auto Glass and Service, Myhre Construction LLC, Roth’s Auto Restoration, Hair Fellers Barbershop, Fastenal of Plymouth, Jensen Sales and Service, Humphrey’s Turner Hall Bar & Grill, Carbliss Hand Crafted Cocktails, Amy Bruechert Reality, Cornwell Tools-Paul Epping, Advanced Engine Concepts, Inc., Duehring’s Tax Service, Everhope Show Cattle, HRP Wings and Behling Racing Equipment.

Arenz shakes off early challenges, secures top-10 IRA 34 Raceway showing

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 30, 2023 – It was the case of same story, different track for Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team, as the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series made its second appearance of the 2023 season at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Friday, Aug. 25.

Much as it has for the majority of the 2023 campaign, the program got off to a bit of a sluggish start with Arenz posting the 17th fastest overall qualifying time in the 31-car field with a lap of 13.544 seconds.

Arenz then started on the pole of the third eight-lap IRA heat race before dropping back to finish fourth in the 10-lap event. The 2021 and 2022 Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion then drew the 16th starting spot in the 30-lap main event.

When the green flag dropped on the 30-lap headliner, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. competitor turned in what he is known best for – an inspired charge to the front of the field. When the checkered flag flew, Arenz had advanced seven spots to secure a ninth place showing for his 13th top 10 A-main finish of the 2023 campaign in a race won by Aaron Reutzel.

“This time around at 34 was far better than last time,” Arenz said. “We reviewed the set-up notes from the beginning of the season and made some adjustments to the car and had much better results.

“In the heat race, I was a little too loose,” he said. “I made a few adjustments and fared better come feature time. I had more confidence this time around with having more seat time and experience. I am getting a good feel for this car, and getting better at knowing what the car likes and how to fine tune it. That is allowing us to move forward each night of racing.”

The Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series was scheduled to compete with support from the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) 410 Sprint Cars at Federated Auto Parts Speedway in Pevely, Mo. on Saturday, Aug. 26. However, heavy rain forced the event to be cancelled.

The weekend kicks off with the annual IRA Harry Neitzel Tribute event on Friday, Sept. 1 at the horsepower half-mile Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis.

Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with warm-ups at 6 p.m. and hot laps and qualifying to follow before opening ceremonies begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars and A Modifieds will also be on the card.

On Saturday, Sept. 2, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis.-based Travis Arenz Motorsports Team will return home to The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. for the annual all-Sprint Car event during the Sheboygan County Fair, featuring the Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Cars and Akright Auto MSA 360 Sprint Cars.

On-track action is slated to begin at 5 p.m.

All 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events will be streamed live on FloRacing.

Arenz earns runner-up Angell Park tally, Wilmot hard charger honors in IRA twinbill

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 23, 2023 – On the heels of a two-week break from racing action, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports got back into the swing of the 2023 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association schedule with a doubleheader weekend featuring events at the Kenosha County Fair at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 19, which yielded a hard charger award A-main effort, and Corn Fest at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., which saw Arenz stand on the podium with a second place A-main finish on Sunday, Aug. 20.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver opened the Kenosha County Fair IRA program at Wilmot Raceway on Aug. 19 by qualifying 13th in Group A and 20th overall in the large 41-car Roger Iles Tribute IRA field with a lap of 13.602 seconds on the three-eighths mile semi-banked clay oval.

The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion then started and finished seventh in the first eight-lap IRA heat race to miss an A-main transfer spot by two positions.

After lining up fifth in the 12-lap B Main, Arenz worked his way steadily to the front of the field en route to a second place finish to earn a berth in the 30-lap Roger Iles Tribute A-main event.

Arenz rolled off from the 22nd starting spot in the IRA main event before mounting a spirited run up through the field to pass 11 cars en route to an 11th place showing to garner IRA Hard Charger Award accolades in a race won by Bill Balog.

“Wilmot was definitely a struggle in the beginning,” Arenz said. “There were 41 cars in attendance and I qualified mid-pack. This started us deep in the heat race and I was unable to transfer to the feature. In the B main, I was able to move up and put the car in the feature. I started 22nd in the A main and was making good ground. Unfortunately, a caution came and my car had shut off, which sent us to the back yet again. I had a good car and ended up finishing 11th.”

On Sunday, Aug. 20, Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team traveled to Angell Park Speedway where Arenz timed in sixth in Group B and 15th overall among the 34-car field with a lap of 13.393 seconds around the historic third-mile semi-banked clay oval.

After starting on the outside front row of the fourth eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz got the jump on polesitter Jeremy Schultz to take the lead on the opening lap. The 2023 IRA Rookie of the Year candidate held strong at the front of the field on the way to his third heat race victory of the 2023 campaign, which earned him his fifth 2023 appearance in an IRA dash.

After starting and finishing third in the second IRA four-lap dash, Arenz earned the sixth starting spot in the 30-lap Corn Fest A main before advancing to fifth with a pass on Austin Hartmann on lap 2. After a caution period on lap 8 for the slowing car of Scotty Neitzel, Arenz ripped off a slide job to seize fourth from Jake Neuman.

Following a red flag on lap 13 when Scotty Thiel’s car flipped on its side along the back stretch, Arenz restarted third before getting around Kyle Schuett to assume second place in the runner order. Another spin on lap 16 involving Thiel bunched the field for one last restart.

However, Balog was just too tough as he pulled away from Arenz and the rest of the field en route to the victory, while Arenz followed close behind to assume a podium runner-up showing. The second place A-main result marked Arenz’s 10th top-five A-main finish and 12th top-10 main event showing of the 2023 season.

“At Angell Park, we made do with what we had,” Arenz said. “We did not have our usual push vehicle, so we had to carry everything to the infield for qualifying. We forgot many things I would have liked to have, but we made it work and I was eighth quick in my group. We won our heat race, which put us in the dash and we rolled out sixth for the feature. The car again was good and finished second.”

“Unfortunately, the accusations of cheating are resurfacing,” he said. “While we were in tech at Angell Park on the scales, we were given a verbal warning for the ‘abnormal noise’ produced by my foot.”

The Travis Arenz Motorsports team is set to compete in an out-of-state IRA doubleheader weekend, firing up on Friday, Aug. 25 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. The Mini Hauler and Vintage Modified divisions are also on the card.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., followed by hot laps at 6:15 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 26, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team will make its first appearance at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo. as part of a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA) – Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) co-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car event. DIRTcar Late Models, DIRTcar Pro Modifieds and DIRTcar Sport Compacts will also be in action.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m.

“I am looking forward to going back to 34 Raceway,” Arenz said. “I’m hoping to have a better outcome than last time. I am always excited to be able to compete at tracks I have never raced at before, like I-55 this weekend. I’m hoping we have good results, as well.”

Hard-charging Arenz blasts to IRA top five finishes at Plymouth, Wilmot

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 2023 rookie Travis Arenz collected a pair of top-five A-main showings at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, July 28 and at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, July 29. – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 2, 2023 – Despite being mired in middle-of-the-pack A-main starting positions, Travis Arenz proved to be undaunted during back-to-back Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events last weekend, improving a grand total of 16 spots en route to a pair of fifth place showings in the third annual Road America Challenge at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Friday, July 28 and annual Founder’s Night event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, July 29.

Returning to the familiar confines of The Plymouth Dirt Track where he has claimed three championships in two different divisions over the past 10 years on Friday, July 28, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver opened the Road America Challenge night program by qualifying 18th in the 27-car IRA field with a lap of 14.265 seconds in very dry and slick track conditions.

Arenz, who captured his first career IRA 410 Sprint Car Series A-main victory in his last appearance at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 1, lined up fourth in the third eight-lap IRA heat race before charging past Josh Schneiderman, Scotty Neitzel and Russel Borland to record a third place finish.

The 16th-year competitor started the 30-lap A main 12th and moved up steadily during the first half of the race to seize ninth from Dave Uttech on lap 12. Ten laps later, Arenz pulled off an impressive move to work his way past Jack Vanderboom and Jordan Goldesberry and advance into seventh on lap 22…

The lone caution flag of the race appeared on lap 29 when Scotty Thiel spun in turn two. After restarting sixth, Arenz gained one more spot during the green-white-checkered flag finish to secure a fifth place showing in a race won by Greg Wilson.

“We actually had a good qualifying draw at Plymouth,” Arenz said. “But with the amount of rain we had received over a couple of days leading to the race, I was pretty surprised with the condition the track was in. We aren’t where we need to be for qualifying, so it’s something we are going to continue to work on. I was pretty happy to be able to finish fifth from the 12th starting spot in the feature. I’ve been able to move forward in the heat races and feature events, so if we can figure out qualifying, it will be huge.”

On Saturday, July 29, Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team headed south to the birthplace of the IRA – Wilmot Raceway – for the annual Founder’s Night program.

With a late qualifying draw, Arenz turned in the 31st fastest qualifying time in the 38-car field with a lap of 13.450 seconds around the three-eighths mile semi-banked clay oval.

Arenz rebounded with a strong run in the third eight-lap IRA heat race to advance seven spots from the ninth starting position to finish second and secure a transfer spot to the 25-lap Founder’s Night A main.

The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion started 14th in the main event and mounted a strong run up through the field to advance nine spots and claim a second straight fifth place A-main showing in a race won by Brenham Crouch.

Arenz’s 14th-to-fifth A-main run netted him the race’s Hard Charger Award for moving up a race-best nine positions.

“At Wilmot, again we qualified horribly, which started us in the back of our heat race,” Arenz said. “I was able to go ninth to second, which was huge. One of my crew members likes to give me ‘motivation speeches’ and told me she doesn’t help B-main cars, so I knew I had to finish in the top five. This set us up for a 14th starting position in the feature and we were able to earn hard charger, passing nine cars to finish fifth. Overall, we have had decent heat race and feature results in our recent events. We will continue to push every week as we move forward.”

With the IRA taking the next two weekends off to allow teams to participate in the Knoxville Nationals in Knoxville, Iowa, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team will return to action with the IRA for the annual Kenosha County Fair Night-Roger Illes Tribute Night racing program at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 19.

One night later, the team will visit Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. with the IRA for the annual Corn Fest event Presented by Zimbrick Chevrolet.

Pit gates open at 2 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 4 p.m., followed by engine heat at 4:45 p.m., hot laps at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.

Arenz hangs tough in first tripleheader road trip of rookie IRA 410 Sprint Car campaign

By Jeff Pederson – Pedal Down Promotions

Travis Arenz’s three-race swing through Minnesota and North Dakota with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series was highlighted by an 11th place showing at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. on Saturday, July 15. – JW’s Car and Raccing Photos

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 19, 2023 – In their 16th year of competition, Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team experienced something new, as they embarked on the first multi-state tripleheader racing weekend road trip of their rookie season with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series Thursday, July 13 at I-94 emr Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn. and Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.

The three-race stand of IRA versus Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) events rolled off with the IRA’s initial visit to I-94 emr Speedway, a three-eighth mile high-banked facility in Fergus Falls, Minn., with a strong field of 38 competitors on hand on Thursday, July 13.

In his first competitive laps at I-94 emr Speedway, Arenz started the night by qualifying 20th overall with a lap of 15.118 seconds. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and  Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion started on the pole of the fourth eight-lap IRA-NOSA heat race before outside front row starter Mark Dobmeier moved Arenz back to second in turn two of the opening lap.

The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver then held off Jade Hastings to earn an A-main transfer spot with a second place showing.

After starting 14th in the 30-lap IRA-NOSA main event, Arenz was running in the 13th position when he slowed to bring out a caution flag on lap 13. After retiring from the race with a broken throttle linkage, Arenz was scored 23rd in the final running order in a race won by Mark Dobmeier.

“Once again, drawing for qualifying was not in our favor for any of the nights at I-94 or River Cities,” Arenz said. “I thought I-94 was a neat track. It was the first time I had been there, but I just took it as any normal night of racing.

”I tried to do my best to read the track with the hopes to set up a competitive car,” he said. “The car felt decent for the most part, but I did break a throttle linkage in the feature, which ended our night.”

On Friday, July 14, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team headed northwest to the vaunted quarter-mile River Cities Speedway bullring in Grand Forks, N.D. where a field of 36 competitors signed in for the first half of the two-night Buffalo Wild Wings King of the Wings event.

Arenz opened the program by registering a qualifying lap of 11.361 seconds, which was good for 22nd overall. After starting the pole in the third eight-lap IRA-NOSA heat race, Arenz wound up second behind hometown Grand Forks, N.D. racer Brendan Mullen.

After starting 14th in the 30-lap IRA-NOSA A-main, Arenz endured a lengthy stop-and-start main event, which featured five caution and red flag periods, to record a 12th place showing in a race won by Mark Dobmeier.

The second half of the IRA versus NOSA Buffalo Wild Wings King of the Wings event saw Arenz begin the program by qualifying eighth in the 37-car field with a lap of 11.002 seconds.

Arenz again started on the pole of his heat race for the third straight event, as he rolled off first in the second eight-lap IRA-NOSA heat race and wound up second behind IRA points leader and leading IRA Rookie of the Year Award contender Brenham Crouch.

The 30-lap IRA vs. NOSA tripleheader finale A main saw Arenz start and finish 11th in a race won by Austin Pierce.

“I thought River Cities Speedway was an awesome facility,” Arenz said. “The nights got late because we were fighting with rain and track conditions, but they got everything handled well. We did improve in qualifying and were able to transfer to the feature from the heat. I would have liked to be in a dash, but we will get there.

“This was the farthest I have traveled to race and it was a long haul, but we learned a lot and got to race at new tracks with a different type of racing surface,” he said.

Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team will return to racing closer to home with a visit to Outagamie Speedway in Seymour, Wis. for a Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Car Series event during the Outagamie County Fair on Friday, July 21.

“I’m excited to go back to Outagamie Speedway this Friday night,” Arenz said.

IMCA Modifieds and Stock Cars are also on the card with pit gates opening at 3 p.m., spectator gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 5, 2023 – After finding success in every racing division he has competed in during his stellar 16-year career, especially at the track located closest to home, Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series rookie Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls, Wis. took full advantage of the familiar home track surroundings of The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. to collect his first career IRA Series and 410 Sprint Car division A-main victory in the Scott Semmelmann Memorial Saturday, July 1.

With 28 IRA 410 Sprint Car competitors signed in, Arenz recorded the eighth fastest qualifying lap in 11.839 seconds. After starting second in the second eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz finished second to earn a spot in the 30-lap Scott Semmelmann Memorial main event, as well as a berth in the IRA dash field.

Arenz drew the fifth starting spot in the second IRA four-lap dash and used a low move in turn one on the opening lap to work underneath Mike Reinke into fourth. One lap later, the 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion passed Todd Daun along the low line to assume third place in turn four, which is where he finished.

Arenz started sixth in the 30-lap Scott Semmelmann Memorial IRA headliner before J.J. Hickle spun in turn four on the initial start, which moved the 2013 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Outlaw Compact 4-Cylinder champion up to fourth on the complete restart. When the green flag fell, Arenz settled into third behind polesitter Caden Englehart in second and second starter Danny Schlafer of Sussex, who grabbed the initial lead.

On lap 3, Arenz and Mike Reinke engaged in a spirited back and forth duel for third in the running order before Arenz stayed glued to the low and middle portions of the venerable third-mile clay oval to finally secure the spot on lap 5. After two caution flags on lap 12 for a spin involving Blake Nimee and another caution when Englehart hit the turn four wall on lap 16, Arenz advanced to the runner-up spot on the ensuing restart.

After the restart, Arenz hounded the high-riding Schlafer relentlessly along the inside and middle grooves. After setting up a pass for several laps, Arenz ducked under Schlafer to seize the top spot in turn one on lap 19.

Once out front, Arenz endured two more caution periods before securing his first career IRA 410 Sprint Car Series A-main victory and 37th overall career A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track in four different divisions – Outlaw Compact 4-Cylinder, B Mod (Sport Mod), 360 Sprint Car and 410 Sprint Car.

“I always look forward to racing at Plymouth because I have so many laps on the track and, for the most part, I know what to expect,” Arenz said. “Because of that, I am able to work more on my driving and being more consistent.

“Throughout the feature, I knew I needed to be patient, consistent and hit my marks,” he said. “After I found a line through the middle in turns one and two that worked for me, I quickly realized I could win this.”

The victory turned the tide for Arenz in recent competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track as his previous best A-main finish in a total of four 2023 410 and 360 Sprint Car events at Plymouth had been a 20th place showing in the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions-IRA Rayce Rudeen main event on Saturday, June 3.

“This win feels pretty special and it is one myself and the whole crew will always remember,” Arenz said. “From 4-Cylinders to Sport Mods to 360s to now 410s, we’ve been able to find success and get to victory lane at Plymouth. When I was growing up, all I ever wanted to do was race at Plymouth. It feels great to get one here in a 410 Sprint Car. Considering how things have gone at Plymouth so far this year, this victory was also much needed to get us back on track.”

The victory marked Arenz’ seventh top-five showing and ninth top-10 finish in 410 Sprint Car A-main action during the 2023 season, including six top-five and eight top-10 finishes in 10 IRA main events in 2023.

At the half-way mark of the 2023 IRA 410 Sprint Car Series campaign, Arenz sits fourth in the points standings, 153 points behind fellow rookie and current IRA points leader Brenham Crouch with 16 events remaining in the season.

With a break in the IRA schedule this weekend, next up for the Travis Arenz Motorsports team is a road trip west for a tripleheader weekend of IRA vs. Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) competition starting Thursday, July 13 at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minn. and continuing Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m., followed by spectator gates at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m. at I-94 Speedway on Thursday, July 13.

(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) October 5, 2022 – After putting together an outstanding 2021 season, which resulted in earning both the Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car titles, Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team delivered a stirring encore performance during the 2022 campaign to claim both the MSA and PDTR championships for the second consecutive season.

The 16th-year Sheboygan Falls, Wis. racer entered championship weekend with a slim 17-point lead over Ben Schmidt in the MSA point standings needing smooth, consistent and incident-free runs at the “horsepower half mile” Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 23 and at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 24 in order to secure the title.

With 18 MSA 360 Sprint Cars signed in at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway for the Checkered Classic run in honor of Al Schmidt, Fuzzy Fassbender and Dick Witt, Arenz opened the program by qualifying second overall with a lap of 19.119 seconds around the half-mile clay oval.

After lining up fourth in the second eight-lap heat race, Arenz came home second to Schmidt to earn the eighth starting spot in the 20-lap MSA Checkered Classic main event. On lap 2, Arenz worked his way past Bill Taylor into second and quickly set his sets on the lead car of polesitter Tyler Brabant.

Arenz caught Brabant on lap 4 and the two drivers engaged in a two-lap duel before Arenz surged into the lead with a low move in turn two on lap 6. From there, Arenz survived two yellow flag periods on lap 13 to pull away to his eighth MSA A-main victory of the 2022 season and 30th career MSA 360 Sprint Car main event triumph.

“I enjoy racing at Dodge County because of the fast pace and it usually has a wide racing surface, which makes it more enjoyable,” Arenz said. “It was great to start off the MSA championship weekend with a win.”

Holding a 19-point cushion over Schmidt, Arenz moved on to the familiar confines of his “home track” The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 24 for the 2022 MSA season finale as part of the fifth annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships.

With 24 MSA-PDTR 360 Sprint Cars signed in for the 2022 curtain closer, Arenz registered the seventh-fastest overall MSA qualifying lap in a time of 12.494 seconds.

Arenz then lined up on the pole of the first 10-lap heat race and pulled away to notch his fifth MSA heat race victory of the 2022 season. Needing a solid finish in the top half of the field to secure his second consecutive MSA and PDTR 360 Sprint Car titles, Arenz started fourth in the 25-lap MSA-PDTR 360 Sprint Car A main and ran a smart, smooth and consistent race, while negotiating through two red flags and two caution periods to secure a fourth-place finish.

Although Schmidt won the main event, Arenz’s fourth-place showing was good enough to nail down the 2022 MSA championship by nine points over Schmidt.

“My approach to the last night of the season at Plymouth was a little different than normal,” Arenz said. “We had to make sure we were fast and aggressive, but also extremely cautious in traffic and to not have any mishaps.

“It means a lot to win the MSA and PDTR championships because of all the hard work, determination, pride, time and money that goes into it,” Arenz said. “The PDTR championship is very special to me with it being my home track and growing up there.”

During the 2022 MSA-PDTR 360 Sprint Car season, Arenz racked up eight A-main victories, 17 top-five and 18-top-10 A-main showings, five heat race wins and two fast qualifier awards en route to the MSA and PDTR championships.

Arenz also competed in seven 410 Sprint Car events with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association in 2022, earning one top-five, three top-10 main and four top-15 A-main showings, three dash appearances and one dash victory to finish 25th in the final 2022 IRA point standings.

The highlight of Arenz’s 2022 410 Sprint Car campaign was an IRA career-best second-place A-main finish at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 27.

Looking ahead to the 2023 season, Arenz is still working on finalizing his plans.

“Our plans for the 2023 season have not been solidified,” Arenz said. “We are going to run a couple races in a Dirt Late Model with Jake Van Engen Racing. We would like to run full-time with the IRA Sprint Car Series in 2023, but our options are open. We are interested in partnering up with someone for the 410 program. What we do during the 2023 season will depend on how the off-season goes.”
