(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 11, 2019 – Finding success when competing against a talented field of 35 to 40 Sprint Car drivers and teams on a weekly basis requires a little bit of good old-fashioned luck.

Just ask Paul Pokorski and his Pokorski Motorsports team who have found the luck of the heat race draw system not to be on their side through the first six events of the 2019 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car campaign.

With 35 PDTR Sprint Car signed in at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 8, a very unlucky pill draw found Pokorski lined up ninth in the second heat race. Pokorski worked his way past Bill Taylor on lap 1 and Shane Wenninger on lap 3 to move into seventh place. On lap 7, Pokorski powered past Josh Teunissen to finished sixth in the 10-lap heat race.

After failing to accumulate enough passing points to transfer directly to the A main, Pokorski lined up second next to polesitter Justin Miller in the second PDTR 360 Sprint Car B main. Pokorski bolted past Miller into the lead on the drop of the green flag and held the top spot throughout the 12-lap race to post his first B-main victory of the 2019 season and earn a spot in the A main lineup.

After lining up 18th in the 22-car A main, Pokorski advanced to 15th on lap 9 before a caution flag on lap 11 slowed the pace. After the restart, Pokorski hit his stride along the outside groove of the fast and tricky track surface to move past Lance Fassbender, Brandon Berth and Tony Wondra into 11th place on lap 15.

Pokorski moved up to challenge Tyler Brabant for 10th on lap 19, but he fell back over the final five laps to secure an 11th-place finish in a race won by Kurt Davis.

The 27-year racing veteran was pleased that he was able to improve a total of 11 positions in the three races he competed in, while at the same time acknowledging the importance of the heat race pill draw.

“With 35-40 cars competing with our series on a regular basis, everything makes an impact on your night, including the heat race draw,” Pokorski said. “Considering we haven’t started a heat race better than fifth all year, I’d say we are doing well. We’ll keep trying to make the best of the bad draws and hope the luck switches at some point and try to capitalize when it does.”

The Pokorski Motorsports team will return to action this Saturday, June 15 at The Plymouth Dirt Track for a four-division program, including the PDTR 360 Sprint Cars, Late Models, Grand Nationals and B Mods. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. with racing slated to begin at 6 p.m.
