(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 29, 2021 – Following an unplanned three-week break to iron out a mechanical issue, Josh Walter and the Torque Racing team returned to action to notch a top-10 A-main showing in the 2021 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season finale, which was part of the fourth annual Wisconsin Sprint Car Championships at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Walter opened the 2021 IRA curtain closer by turning in the 15th fastest qualifying lap in the 25-car field with a circuit of 11.484 seconds.

The 17th-year Sprint Car driver then lined up fifth in the first 10-lap IRA heat race before dropping back to sixth on lap 2 when Hunter Custer slipped past. Walter then battled back to work his way back around Custer in turn three on lap 4 before passing Wayne Modjeski exiting turn four on lap 8 to secure a fourth-place finish.

The heat race finish gave Walter the 14th starting spot in the 30-lap IRA main event. After moving around Robbie Pribnow into 13th on lap 2 Walter worked primarily the high groove of the well-manicured third-mile clay oval to power around Wayne Modjeski into 12th on lap 10.

After the first of two caution flags appeared on lap 16, Walter continued to ride in the 12th position before moving into 11th on lap 16 and 10th on lap 23 when he shot past the slowing car of Blake Nimee.

The second caution came out on lap 28 when Nimee spun to a stop in turn two. Walter used a strong restart to edge past Scotty Neitzel on the final lap en route to a ninth-place finish in a race won by Oklahoma’s Noah Gass.

“We had planned to do a lot of racing in September, but we broke a rocker arm during the last IRA race at Plymouth during the fair,” Walter said. “It took a little longer to get the part, so we had to miss a few races we had planned on running.

“It was good to get back out on the track and put together a pretty decent, clean night to close out the season,” he said. “I have to thank everyone that supported us throughout the season.”

Walter and the Torque Racing team closed the 2021 season with one top-five A-main finish, five top-10 A-main showings, two heat race wins, four IRA dash appearances and one IRA dash victory in 12 races, including 11 IRA events, on the way to a 17th-place finish in the final IRA point standings

The Torque Racing team had planned to compete in the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series Fuzzy Fassbender, Harry Neitzel, Rick Schmidt Tribute event on Friday, Sept. 24 at the Dodge County Fairgrounds in Beaver Dam, Wis. However, heavy rain showers hit the track late during motor heat, which forced the event to be cancelled.
