(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 7, 2021 – With the largest crowd of the season on hand at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis., 16th-year Plymouth, Wis. driver Josh Walter raced his 12W Torque Racing 410 Sprint Car to a strong sixth-place showing in a special 30-lap Road America NASCAR Weekend Kickoff Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association A main at the team’s hometown track on Thursday, July 1.

Walter was among a solid field of 24 IRA Sprint drivers to sign in for the event. After qualifying 14th with a lap of 11.978 seconds around the third-mile clay oval, the former 360 Sprint Car standout lined up fifth in the second 10-lap IRA heat race and moved up to fourth after passing Dave Uttech on lap 2. Walter held the spot over the final eight laps to secure a fourth-place finish.

Walter started 12th in the IRA A main and moved up to 10th on lap 6. The main event was slowed by eight yellow and red flag periods as several drivers struggled to get a handle on the ultra-fast and undulating racing surface.

The second caution flag of the race appeared on lap 8 when visiting NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe and Scotty Thiel made contact in turn three. Walter restarted eighth before dropping to 11th on lap 10. Walter battled back on the following lap to work past Russel Borland to secure 10th in the running order.

A string of five yellow and red flags over the final 14 laps saw Walter move up to seventh on a lap 24 restart. Walter advanced to sixth when Dave Uttech got loose and flipped to bring out the final red flag on lap 25.

Following an open red period to allow crews to refuel the cars, Walter powered past Josh Schneiderman on the final restart to work his way into fifth on lap 17. However, Schneiderman regained the position on the final lap as Walter came home sixth to record his second top-10 A-main showing of the 2021 IRA season in a race won by Bill Balog. The sixth-place showing was also Walter’s best 410 Sprint Car A-main finish at The Plymouth Dirt Track.

“It was a really good night for us and we were fortunately to survive all the cautions and reds and get a strong sixth in the A main,” Walter said. “Sixth is our best finish in a 410 Sprint Car at Plymouth. Our previous best 410 finish at Plymouth was an eighth in the final race of the 2020 IRA season last September.”

Walter and the Torque Racing team will take two weeks off before returning to action with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at the Outagamie Speedway Powered by EWSC Racing in Seymour, Wis. on Friday, July 23 and Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, July 24.
